DIY Halloween Tin Can Lantern

Looking for Halloween crafts for the family? Halloween tin can lanterns are simple Halloween tin can crafts for the family and perfect for spooky celebrations with minimal preparation! With a simple transformation, ordinary tin cans will be transformed into works of art that emit eerie light, adding a spooky atmosphere to your Halloween party.

How to make a Halloween Tin Can Lantern

1、Empty tin can (standard beverage can size is best)
2、Acrylic paint (black, orange, purple)
3、Nails and hammer
4、LED candles or small light strings
5、Sandpaper
6、Marker
7、Gloves (to protect your hands)
8、Old towel

Detailed production steps

Preparation:Prepare the above materials, wash and dry the tin can, and sand the surface with sandpaper

Design:On A4 squared paper, use a paintbrush to draw a Halloween pattern. We can draw some hideous pumpkin faces or bat groups, ghost outlines, etc. Then take the can and create a dot design within the marked parameters

Punch and carve:Put on gloves. Secure the can to a sturdy work surface with a sturdy clamp. Using a hammer and nails, punch holes evenly along the outline of the pattern. You need to control the force when knocking to avoid deformation of the can.

Color decoration:I used orange paint to paint the can this time. I recommend using black as the base and then adding orange or purple to embellish it. You can add fluorescent paint to enhance the night effect. I used 3 layers of paint to completely cover the can. After the paint is dry, you can use sandpaper to lightly sand it to create a distressed effect.

Lighting device:Put LED candles or small light strings at the bottom of the lantern. If each flameless LED prayer lamp is less than $1, it is worth buying. However, I always use some candles every time, and wait for them to burn out and melt. I can recycle them and use them for the next holiday (the lighting part of the Christmas lantern)
