NEW YORK, NY.- Christies New York Luxury Week continued with the holiday edition of Handbags Online: The New York Edit. The online auction achieved $2.8 Million and was 96% sold by lot. The sale saw global participation with bidders and buyers coming 60% from the Americas, 20% EMEA, and 20% APAC. Leading the sale was an important single owner section entitled An Impressive Private Collection of Handbags, the collection was 100% sold and achieved over $680,00, 132.5% of its pre-sale low estimate.

The top lots of the sale were two Hermès bags: a Rare Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Birkin 25 and a Rare Matte Bleu Marine Alligator Faubourg Sellier Birkin 20, both of which realized $138,600. Additional top lots include an Exceptional Shiny Sanguine Porosus Crocodile Birkin 30 with 18k White Gold & Diamond Hardware, which realized $1126,000, and an Exceptional Shiny Black Porosus Crocodile Birkin 35 with 18k White Gold & Diamond Hardware from an Impressive Private Collection, which realized $94,500.
Notable results were also achieved for a Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama Limited Edition Yellow & Black Monogram Leather Pumpkin Bag, which sold for more than four times its low estimate, totaling $40,320, and for a Rare Chanel Pink Lucite & Crystal Ski Gondola Evening Bag, which achieved $37,800, nearly five times its low estimate.
