TUBAC, AZ.- Artist Leslie Miller is thrilled to announce the inclusion of her abstract paintings in a four-person exhibit. The exhibit titled, “Four Takes" will be held at the K. Newby Gallery and Sculpture Garden, 15 Tubac Rd, Tubac, AZ 85646. The exhibit opens during the Tubac Fall Artwalk. Leslie will be giving an Artist Talk on Saturday, November 9th, at 1:00 p.m. She will be sharing insights about her art at that time. The exhibit continues through January 3, 2025.

Leslie is one of only four artists invited to be featured in this important and informative exhibit. The intention of the "Four Takes" exhibit at K. Newby Art Gallery is to showcase an evocative exploration of abstract art that brings together four distinct voices that challenge, inspire, and redefine the boundaries of perception. Each artist offers a unique lens, or a different take on abstraction, resulting in a dynamic and diverse visual dialogue that speaks to the power of imagination and form.

Leslie is originally from California and was raised in East Tennessee. She now lives and works from her studio in Tubac, AZ. She is a contemporary artist painting primarily in oil with cold wax medium. The artist describes her work by saying, “I am fascinated by the many layers, unique marks, and ability to create transparency and opacity that hints toward the human condition. Working intuitively, each piece ebbs and flows through various layers that could not be achieved in one pass. In the same way, people are built from many different layers of influence and experiences.”

After many creative endeavors, she began her education in fine art through independent study in 2014 and continues to learn constantly from other accomplished artists. Her artwork explores the uniqueness of individuals through their values, experiences, and influences. She incorporates a cold wax medium to depict the many layers, transparency, and opacity hinting at connection.

Leslie will have nine abstract artworks featured in the exhibit, all created using oil and cold wax, and varying in size. Each piece is created using bold colors and sweeping gestures. There is a sense of movement and energy in her paintings and an overall impression of spontaneity that draws the viewer into the rhythm of each piece. Her artwork can be found in many local exhibits in Arizona, and homes throughout the United States. Leslie’s work is represented by K. Newby Gallery in Tubac, AZ. Leslie is also very active in the community and is a former director of the Tubac School of Fine Art, which is the adult education division of Tubac Center of the Arts. In 2016 she was honored to receive the Master Meed award by popular vote from Tubac Center of the Arts. Leslie also teaches workshops in Tubac, AZ, with several workshops starting in January 2025. She will give her first workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico in March 2025. Visit her website for more information. www.lesliemillerfineart.com.
