BERLIN.- The award-winning artist duo Inka and Niclas Lindergård works predominantly with photography-based art. Their multifaceted oeuvre focuses on the aesthetics of popular culture and its influence on human perception of nature. With their work, Inka & Niclas shuffle between the poles of idealized beauty and absurdity, between an existential dimension and gaudy triviality.

Haus am Kleistpark presents select works from the past twelve years, offering an overview of how the duo’s work has developed. Early works from the series Becoming Wilderness (2012) or Vista Point (2014), artworks from the acclaimed series Family Portraits (2015-ongoing), and photographs from the comprehensive body of work 4K Ultra HD (2018-ongoing) are all on display, as well as the duo’s most recent productions from the series Adaptive Colorations (2015-ongoing), Extensions (2022/23), or Sunset Photography (2023).

We see photographic images and sculptural objects alike. The objects are rooted in photographic methods and come into their own, eluding any attempts at categorization. Each exhibition piece is a snapshot in time, bearing witness to events that occurred at a specific time and place. It is a key aspect of Inka & Niclas’s work that the image reflects something that actually happened in front of the camera lens.

Inka and Niclas Lindergård have been working together since 2007 and live in Stockholm, Sweden. Their artworks can be found in the permanent collections of Moderna Museet (Sweden), the Gothenburg Museum of Art (Sweden), the Fries Museum (Netherlands), the Public Art Agency (Sweden), and Arendt & Art (Luxemburg), as well as in numerous private collections around the globe.

The exhibition coincides with the publication date of Inka & Niclas’s third book, Extensions.
