Two Jean Dufy paintings take the top spots at Roland Auctions NY July 27th Summer Auction

GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY hosted their Mid-Summer eclectic Multi-Estates Auction on July 27th, with Fine and Contemporary Art once again taking the lead. Two Jean Dufy (French, 1888-1964) oil on canvas paintings were the high-sellers of the day, which both had already received a lot of pre-auction attention. Just following the Fine and Contemporary Art, most notable items were from the decorative arts and furniture arenas.


A Steinway & Sons Ebonized Upright Piano. Sold for $5,625.

Top seller at the July 27th auction was a Jean Dufy (French, 1888-1964) Place de la Concorde, oil on canvas painting of a scene of the Place de la Concorde, depicting fountains and a horse and carriage, with the Eiffel Tower in the far right, signed lower right, bearing inventory label on back. [Art: 19 1/2" H x 24" W; Frame: 30" H x 35" W]. Re-lined, which sold for $46,875. Another Jean Dufy (French, 1888-1964) oil on canvas painting depicting musicians in a band with a background of more musicians, signed lower right, bearing inventory labels on back. [Art: 14 1/2" H x 17 1/2' W; Frame: 22 1/2" H x 26" W], sold for $20,000, while a Christopher Hiltey: Monumental Kinetic Outdoor Mobile Sculpture, Three dimensional, palatial, kinetic mobile sculpture, with industrial multicolor shapes, [Overall: 96" H x 164" W; Base only: 2" H x 37" W x 12" D], sold for $11,250.


Bimbo Box Monkey Band Jukebox. Sold for $13,750.


Following the Fine and Contemporary Art, most notable items were from the decorative arts, furniture and other categories. A very unique Bimbo Box Monkey Band Jukebox, coin-operated, "Uta Elektroakustik Magstadt". [54 1/2" H x 30" W x 24 1/2" D], sold for $13,750, a Steinway & Sons Ebonized Upright Piano. [46 1/2" H x 58 1/2" W x 25" D], sold for $5,625 and a gorgeous 1965 Mark 2 3.8S Sedan. NB: Sold in situ; located off-site in Newburgh, NY, went for $8,750.
