NEW YORK, NY.- Christie's and MoonPay announced a pioneering experience merging art, AI, and Web3 technology happening this summer at the Christies 8th Art + Tech Summit, taking place live in Rockefeller Center, New York on July 17 and July 18, 2024. With MoonPay technology, event attendees will have the opportunity to further immerse themselves into the worlds of technology and creativity by engaging in a gamified digital art experience. This experience continues the tradition set by Robbie Barrat, whom Christies previously commissioned to produce 300 unique AI-Generated Nude Portraits, now known as the "Lost Robbies" collection, which has become iconic in the history of AI art.
The digital art will be displayed at key moments throughout the event. Each piece of art was created to reflect the four pillars of innovation during this years Summit: AI in Real Life, Art and its Market, Thoughtful Luxury, and New Paradigms in Technology. The creative development, design, and experience was led by the Web3 creative agency, Otherlife. The technical infrastructure was built with MoonPays latest product, Web3 Tools.
Culture will ultimately drive the mass adoption of Web3, and art is incredibly influential in how our culture will evolve to embrace these new, disruptive technologies, said Keith A. Grossman, President of Enterprise at MoonPay. MoonPay is proud to support Christies as it pioneers the future of creativity and innovation, both at the Art + Tech Summit and through our longstanding partnership facilitating auction transactions powered by cryptocurrency.
At the end of the summit, attendees who scanned and collected all four art pieces will be airdropped a special gift from Christies Artist Partner, Niceaunties (no purchase required).
Curated and produced in collaboration with Fellowship, Niceaunties' commission titled "Along the River in Auntieverse" reimagines Zhang Zeduan's classic "Along the River during the Qingming Festival." This series translates the historical narrative into a contemporary commentary on environmental and societal issues. Leveraging AI techniques and Niceaunties architectural background, the series depicts interconnected scenes unified by the motif of water. It ranges from idyllic landscapes to portrayals of environmental degradation, reflecting humanity's impact on nature. This modern reinterpretation offers a critical perspective on current ecological concerns, contrasting starkly with the original's celebration of urban prosperity and imperial order.
