Gabriel Hardman is a writer and artist known for his comics, including Green Lantern: Earth One (DC Comics, 2018-20), Savage Hulk (Marvel, 2014) and Star Wars: Legacy (Dark Horse Comics, 2006-10), all co-written with Corinna Bechko; Invisible Republic (Image Comics, 2015); Kinski (Image Comics, 2014); and his prolific work as a storyboard artist on films like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Walt Disney Pictures, 2023), Ford V. Ferrari (20th Century Fox, 2019), Logan (Marvel Entertainment, 2017), The Dark Knight Rises (Warner Bros., 2012), Inception (Warner Bros., 2010), Interstellar (Paramount Pictures, 2014), Tropic Thunder (Dreamworks Pictures, 2008), Superman Returns (Warner Bros., 2006), and the Austin Powers trilogy (New Line Cinema, 1997-2002).
Coming out of its cryogenic freeze after its twenty-seven year film release will be over seventy-five storyboards of the James Bond/1960s films parodys many beloved scenes and gags that brought the world some of the most iconic comedic characters of the 20th century: Frozen 1960s British secret agent, Austin Powers (Myers) whos thawed thirty years later and ordered by British Intelligence officer Basil Exposition (Michael York) to stop his archenemy Dr. Evil (also played by Myers) from taking the over the world and gets some help (and pointers on how to swing in the 90s) from sexy Ms. Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley), who together fend off Number 2 (Robert Wagner), Frau Farbissina (Mindy Sterling), Scott Evil (Seth Green), Alotta Fagina (Fabiana Udenio), Dr. Evils cat Mr. Bigglesworth and other villains.
Highlights of the films storyboard illustrations include (estimate range each: $500 - $700): the scene depicting the introduction of Dr. Evil and his henchmen; an illustration that depicts Austins irresistible face with Attn: Michael McCullers (photo above top) and 1 of 2 handwritten in pencil to the top (McCullers was the assistant to writer Mike Myers, and wrote the films two sequels); the scenes of Austin and Vanessa Kensington almost capturing Dr. Evil as he and his cat Mr. Bigglesworth escape in his egg chair-shaped cryogenic chamber; a depiction of Austin covering himself after he is thawed from a cryogenically frozen state circa 1997; the scene of Vanessa introducing Austin to his Shaguar; the scenes when Frau Farbissina reveals Dr. Evils new secret weapon: the fembots and when the fembots demonstrate their deadly talents with a team of unfortunate soldiers; the scene of Austin and Vanessa defeating enemy guards with judo moves; the iconic scene of Dr. Evil unveiling the Vulcan probe that will destroy the earth, prompting Austin to whisper one of pop cultures most famous lines, Does that make you horny? to Vanessa (photo below); the scene of Austin defeating the fembots with sexy dance moves while Vanessa looks on in horror; and more.
