LONDON.- In addition to the previously announced A Legacy Preserved: The Last Treasures from The Avery Wine Collection live auction at Christie’s London (on 6 and 7 June), Christie’s Wine & Spirits department is pleased to present Fine and Rare Wines Online: Featuring Historical Vintage Port from the Cellars of Raby Castle, an online sale featuring an array of exceptional wines and spirits which will take place from 7-20 June. Comprising more than 750 lots of fine wines, Madeira and select spirits, the sale will also present one of the finest private collections of Vintage Port to feature at auction in a generation, direct from the cellars of the magnificent 14th century Raby Castle in County Durham, where they have been stored since they were acquired, on release, by the ancestors of the current Lord Barnard. The Raby Collection includes deep parcels of rare Ports including Dow 1924, Fonseca 1934 and the legendary Taylor 1948.

Six bottles of Cuvée Charles III, a unique secret blend of red Bordeaux from Château Smith Haut Lafitte are also offered, produced especially to commemorate the visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla to Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Bordeaux in September 2023. The full hammer proceeds from the sale of these lots will be donated to The King’s Trust Group to support their work with young people globally.

Elsewhere in the sale, rare Burgundy from Domaine Leroy will be offered alongside collectors wines from Chateau Rayas, a collection of superb Italian wines and a well-stored collection of Dom Perignon 1990 from a notable connoisseur.

In addition to the online auction, A Legacy Preserved: The Last Treasures from The Avery Wine Collection will showcase some of the greatest, rarest wines ever bottled from the Avery family cellar, following Part I of the collection which was sold at Christie’s London in 2016. The wines in this collection cover two centuries of winemaking featuring esteemed Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and New World wines, and are being offered in a live auction on 6 and 7 June.

Noah May, Head of Wine & Spirits Department, EMEA “Following the fantastic results from the recent Le Gavroche Part II: The Wine Cellar sale which was 100% sold, and as well as Part 2 of the notable Avery Collection, we are thrilled to unveil this selection of some of the rarest and most exceptional bottles on the market. Collections of such stature further cement Christie’s reputation as a leader in bringing the most prestigious cellars to auction and reinforce our standing as the auction house of choice for distinguished collections worldwide.”
