SYDNEY.- The largest presentation in the Southern Hemisphere of acclaimed artist Tacita Dean's work is being presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia as part of the Sydney International Art Series 2023/2024.

Berlin and LA-based Tacita Dean (b. 1965, Canterbury, UK) is renowned for her singular poetic vision and distinctive body of work, which encompasses film, photography, sound, installation, drawing, print-making and collage.

This Sydney-exclusive exhibition will bring together key works that capture Dean’s investigations into themes of chance, memory, entropy, history and time. Featuring important bodies of work not previously seen in Australia, the exhibition includes recent film works, monumental chalkboard drawings, and photographic and print series. Among the exhibition highlights are a new body of 35mm film, photographs and etchings developed out of the artist’s collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor and composer Thomas Adès on the ballet The Dante Project for the Royal Ballet, London.

Tacita Dean features significant works that have never been exhibited in Australia, including a major new film work, Geography Biography (2023), large-scale chalk on blackboard drawing The Wreck of Hope (2022), and the artist's ongoing acclaimed series of film portraits.
