BOSTON, MASS.- RR Auction's semi-annual Marvels of Modern Music auction features over 250 chart-topping items from renowned rock and rollers, punk pioneers, classic crooners, and great guitarists.
An original artwork by the iconic Bob Dylan is highlighted among the exceptional offerings. Entitled 'View from Two Windows,' created in 2007 for his acclaimed 'Drawn Blank Series,' accomplished in gouache and mixed media on artist paper, signed below in paint by Dylan. The work depicts the inside of an upper-story room viewed from the perspective of a standing observer, with the foreground composed of a table, chair, and a television set, and the background featuring a large beige curtain and a pair of multi-paned windows that look down upon a house, greenery, and what appears to be a body of water.
Adding a vibrant punk aesthetic to the mix are two artworks by Dee Dee Ramone, a true pioneer of the genre. One standout piece is an original 'Campbell's Soup Can' paintinga fusion of pop art and punk rock. The large, flat image of "Campbell's Condensed Tomato Soup" is a playful homage to Andy Warhol's iconic works, showcasing Dee Dee Ramone's artistic prowess.
Equally captivating is Ramone's intricately detailed "Oranges" artwork, featuring a central figure surrounded by a plethora of boxed words and phrases. Executed in acrylic paint on stretched canvas, this piece exemplifies the intersection of punk rock attitude and artistic finesse.
The Marvels of Modern Music auction also boasts incredible Led Zeppelin autographs, including a vintage-signed promo photo of the bandan unprecedented gem accompanied by its original Atlantic Records promotional folder. This folder was issued to promote the band's self-titled studio debut album, released on January 12, 1969.
Jim Morrison's handwritten lyrics for The Doors' song "L'America" is also featured. This fantastic manuscript reveals slight differences from the recorded version, underscoring the creative evolution of this iconic counterculture band.
The Beatles make an appearance with stunning signatures, including a circa 1965 Beatles portrait signed as a gift to the 'Beatles Christmas Show' produceran exquisite piece of memorabilia that captures the essence of the band during this pivotal period.
Rarities from other musical legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Johnny Cash, and Nirvana round out the auction's impressive lineup.
The Marvels of Modern Music auction by RR Auction began on November 17 and will conclude on December 14.
