LONDON.- Sisters Anastasia and Julia Vanderbyl are the artists and farmers behind Fitzrovia Gallery, an environmental platform that has amassed a devoted fan base of over 2 million followers.

“Julia Vanderbyl is an incredible painter who lives and works in Australia. Her figurative and abstracted work presents itself in the glorious space between our binary ideologies that are present in our physical world. The figures in the works escape from their landscapes, the natural world. Dichotomous and Harmonious at the same time.” -Mollie Barnes ‘She Curates’

Anastasia and Julia Vanderbyl are now presenting their upcoming duo exhibition “Mother the Mountain” showcasing a brand-new body of work of paintings and print editions. Transcending the typical art exhibition, “Mother the Mountain” is a reverent tribute to the natural world, resilience, and an immersive journey into the heart of the Australian rainforest. Concurrent with the exhibition, the sisters are delighted to announce the release of their highly-anticipated book of the same name.

"Mother the Mountain" is an invitation to rediscover the art of living in harmony with nature. The exhibition and book launch guarantees an immersive experience, breathing life into the pages of "Mother the Mountain" by exploring the visual and narrative components that define the Vanderbyl sisters' creative journey. Visitors will
have the opportunity to interact with the artists and authors, witness live musical performances, and gain insights into the interplay between art, nature, music, and the human spirit.

JULIA AND ANASTASIA VANDERBYL

Julia Vanderbyl is an internationally exhibited artist, filmmaker and writer whose work examines the interplay of human and environment. Julia’s paintings are widely recognised as a poignant depiction of humanity’s connection with the landscape, while her writing, film and photography serve as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary resilience of the natural world.

Anastasia Vanderbyl is a regenerative fashion designer, writer and filmmaker whose work shares a powerful message of climate resilience and hope. While her writing and videography advocate for connection with the natural world, Anastasia follows a hands-on approach to creating change in the fashion sphere. Her groundbreaking designs follow regenerative practices, creating ethereal pieces from reappropriated waste.

Through film, art, and photography, they document their journey of restoring the rainforest, caring for animals, and living with nature, inspiring their audience to celebrate and protect the beauty of the natural world. They both live and grow on Bundjalung Country on the East Coast of Australia, where they care for a regenerative farm previously stewarded by their parents and grandparents.

MOTHER THE MOUNTAIN: THE ART OF LIVING WITH NATURE

Published by DK Publishing (Dorling Kindersley) "Mother the Mountain" is a beautifully crafted memoir that documents Anastasia and Julia's profound journey into the captivating Australian rainforest. This narrative masterpiece intricately intertwines personal narratives, art, photography, and poetry into a rich tapestry that mirrors the remarkable tenacity of nature. As stewards of the land, regenerative farmers, artists, and gardeners, the sisters impart the wisdom of deepening one's connection with the earth. The book serves as a guide to celebrate creativity, nurture mindfulness, and embrace a harmonious way of life.

"A wise, moving, deep-rooted, and sunwards-reaching book. Julia and Anastasia speak together with a calm clarity, and are honest about the hardships as well as the wonders of living where they do. This book will inspire readers to imagine different, better ways of being in the world." - Robert Macfarlane, author of Underland and The Old Ways
