NEW YORK.- The Museum of Modern Art opened the exhibit Young Architects Program on view through September 24. This exhibition features proposals from the five finalists of the MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program. Now in its seventh year, the program calls on architects to create an installation in P.S.1s courtyard that will serve as the setting for the 2006 summer Warm Up series. The designers present engaging architectural solutions that modulate sun, shade, and water in this outdoor space. This years finalists included OBRA Architects (New York), Contemporary Architecture Practice (New York), Gnuform (Los Angeles), Howeler + Yoon (Boston), and Kivi Sotamaa (Columbus, Ohio).
Organized by Tina diCarlo, Assistant Curator, and Peter Christensen, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Architecture and Design. The 2006 Young Architects Program is made possible by Rockrose Development Corp. Major support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Edward L. Barnes Bequest, Bertha and Isaac Liberman Foundation, Jeffrey and Michèle Klein, and Deedie Rose. Additional funding is provided by Agnes Gund and Daniel Shapiro, Foundation for the Advancement of Architectural Thought, The Contemporary Arts Council of The Museum of Modern Art, and Peter S. Kalikow.
