LONDON.- As part of London Gallery Weekend, Michael Werner Gallery, London invites you to an exhibition walkthrough of Maki Na Kamura with Wells Fray-Smith, Curator at the Barbican Art Gallery. Maki Na Kamura is an Osaka-born, Berlin-based artist and this exhibition of new paintings marks her first solo show in London. The event will take place at the gallery on Friday 2 June with a reception from 5:30PM BST and an exhibition walkthrough from 6:30PM BST through to 7:30PM BST.

Maki Na Kamura studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. She has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe and in Japan. Solo museum exhibitions have been held at Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens in Deurle, Belgium (2017); Osthaus Museum Hagen in Hagen, Germany (2017); Bilbao Arte – centro de arte contemporáneo in Bilbao, Spain (2015); and Oldenburger Kunstverein in Oldenberg, Germany (2014). Na Kamura was awarded the Falkenrot Prize in 2013. Her work is in the collection of Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, France.

Wells Fray-Smith is a curator and writer in London. Fray-Smith is currently Curator at the Barbican Art Gallery. She previously held the post of Curator: Special Projects at the Whitechapel Gallery overseeing the annual festival Nocturnal Creatures, with previous iterations featuring Kai Althoff amongst others, and the triennial exhibition The London Open. She has held similar positions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Pace Gallery. Her writing has been published by numerous museums and galleries. Fray-Smith recently curated Real Life at Gallery Sofie Van de Velde, Antwerp.

Maki Na Kamura is on view through Saturday 17 June. The exhibition is accompanied by a full-colour catalogue featuring a text by Travis Jeppesen. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM to 6PM, and will be extended for London Gallery Weekend on Sunday 4 June from 11AM to 5PM.
