GLEN COVE, NY.- Estates Auction featured hundreds of lots of Fine Art, Decorative Arts, 20th Century Modern, Antique & Vintage Furniture, Textiles, Silver, Gold and Silver Jewelry, Rugs, Collectibles, Asian Art and Lighting.

Throughout the day, a wide selection of Modern and Contemporary Art took the lead as top sellers of the day. Bidding quickly shot up past the estimates on quite a few pieces.

A George Grosz (German-American, 1893-1959) "Let Me Feel Your Pulse," Watercolor. Framed scene of various figures at work Inscribed lower left and signed. This watercolor originally was commissioned as one of many illustrations by George Macy of the Limited Editions Club & The Heritage Press. Label on reverse Rudolph Lesch Fine Arts and purchased by the consignor at Weintraub Gallery, NYC. [Art: 23 x 17 inches, Frame: 33 3/4 x 26 1/2 inches], was the highest seller of the day going for $23,750.

A Thomas Downing (American, 1928-1985) Abstract - Oil Painting, abstract angular composition, in oil on canvas on wood stretcher, in green, purple and brown, titled "Twelve', circa 1967., Provenance: Vincent Melzac Collection and Norton Gallery School of Art. [91 1/4" H x 121" W] also sold high at $21,250, while a Minas Avetisyan (Armenian, 1928-1925) "View in Jajura", O/C 1963, oil on canvas painting "View in Jajura" in the Fauve style, signed, lower left. Signed verso with title and dated '1963'. Certificate of Authenticity from Gayane and Arman Avetisyan. [34 x 26 inches], sold for $20,000.

A Jean (Hans) Arp (1886-1966) – Abstract framed oil on canvas "Parasols Colores Sur Fond Noir." Meudon 14-19 Feurier, 1934. An abstract, surreal work, with considerable provenance to rear of painting, along with an essay by Dr. Jan Bazekowski and Contract of Sale from Comte de la Roche. [36 x 28 3/4 inches], sold for $13,750, a Pavel Tchelitchew (Russian, 1898-1957), surrealist portrait, in oil on board, signed lower left; unframed. Signed and dated '1926' verso. [15 1/4" H x 11" W], sold for $7,500 and a David Simpson (American, b. 1928) Geometric Composition – Painting, oil on canvas painting on a round stretcher, untitled, having orange ground with green semi-circles, signed on back, dated 12/1969. [53 1/4" Diam.], went for $5,937.

A very unigue Old Masters European Mural, removed from a private estate in West Virginia. In four parts. [Pictured: 117 x 83 inches and 98 x 94 inches], sold for $11,250 and a rare French Wallpaper Scene “Chasse Dite D'Apres Vernet”. Lot comprises 24 panels of antique French wallpaper depicting two scenes "Chasse Dite D'Apres Vernet" from the first edition printing in c. 1835. [Panels approx 75 high inches x approx. 409 3/4 total width inches], sold for $18,750.

Other areas also showed well, with an 18th C. Italian Neoclassical period Commode, 3-drawer commode, in the style of Giuseppe Modgilini, having marquetry scenic inlay, circa 1780. [35 1/2" H x 48 3/4" W x 20" D], selling for $3125 and a David Webb 18K Gold & Mabe Pearl Ring, featuring a 20mm pearl in a large octagonal shaped setting, stamped "Webb / 18K". Size 6. 39.4 grams, 25.3 dwt. also going for $3125.
