Positive Reasons for Ditching Tobacco for Vaping

Data from Truth Initiative points toward up to 70 percent of smokers wishing to quit. However, the vast majority will fail in their attempts to quit their habit. Many smokers find vaping products offer an alternative to cigarettes, which has allowed them to reduce their nicotine intake over time.

An increasing number of smokers are ditching tobacco for vaping products. Obviously, it is no secret that smoking tobacco is bad for health, but what other reasons are making people switch to vapes and away from cigarettes?

What reasons are there to switch to vaping instead of smoking?
The primary concern surrounding cigarette smoking is health and the increased risk of serious illness. Health then is the primary cause of any individual giving up cigarettes.

You can read about how cigarettes harm health further down this article. Yet, there are several other reasons why switching to vapes might be a positive step.

You can buy vaping products online
Due to the size of vaping products, they are already portable and convenient. And making purchases of vape juice or kits is also straightforward and can be done online.

The convenience of visiting the likes of an Elfbar Store means that the consumer can peruse vaping products at their leisure from home.

You will inhale fewer chemicals
There are at least 250 harmful chemicals in each cigarette on the market now, and switching to vapes will ensure you inhale far less of them.

While the health dangers of tobacco are known now, cigarette advertising from previous times tried to mask these concerns with misleading images and statements.

Vaping may help with smoking cessation
Fewer than 10 percent of adult smokers succeed in quitting each year with just 7.5% quitting smoking in 2018. These figures illustrate how difficult it can be to quit cigarettes.

Yet, it is believed that you could be twice as successful with kicking cigarettes if you use a vape as you would with nicotine patches or gum. And when combined with smoking cessation therapy, the chances of successfully quitting cigarettes rise once again.

Vaping is more socially acceptable than smoking
Tobacco's appeal has gone through many shifts through the centuries. At some points, cigarettes were seen as glamorous and featured regularly in Hollywood movies, but now there is a certain stigma surrounding them.

There are smoking bans in many countries now, but even back in the distant past tobacco wasn’t always popular. In the Qing dynasty, tobacco was forbidden unless it had healing properties and was carried in decorative snuff bottles.

Now, secondhand smoke is recognized as dangerous, and the odor of stale tobacco is unpleasant. Vaping on the other hand presents fewer concerns and generally smells much more pleasant.

You might save money if you switch to vaping
30ml of vape juice is equivalent to about 6,000 puffs. With 10 puffs per traditional cigarette, 30ml of vape juice is equivalent to 600 cigarettes.

In 2020, the average international price for 20 cigarettes was $4.52 and has since risen. In comparison, a 30ml vape today can cost up to $20 depending on the brand. Therefore, 600 cigarettes could cost up to $135.60.

The money saved from not smoking could be put toward far more healthy activities or simply put in the bank.

Less waste
Smoking cigarettes helps to generate a serious amount of waste. Cigarette filters contribute to the volume of plastic pollution on the planet. Each year, 6.5 trillion cigarettes are purchased, but only 1/3rd of the butts get disposed of properly.

It is estimated that around 4.5 trillion cigarette butts primarily made up of plastic are dropped in the street or flicked away every year. Cigarette butts may take up to 14 years before they break apart, all the time leaching chemicals into the earth.

Using refillable vapes means less waste being produced. Plus, if you buy vape juice in glass bottles you can reduce how much plastic you discard.

You can control how much nicotine you inhale
Unlike cigarettes, vape juice is available with zero percent nicotine. If you are trying to stop smoking, and eventually want to quit vaping too, you can steadily reduce how much nicotine is in your vape juice by purchasing weaker liquids.

While smokers can buy cigarettes with varying amounts of nicotine, there is no choice for anyone who wants 0%. Vaping juice has options for liquids with no nicotine at all.

Summary
Smoking kills millions of people every year but isn’t an easy habit to quit. Not only is smoking unhealthy, but it is expensive too with tax increases making it less of a priority during this cost of living crisis.

Vaping might help some people to quit smoking, and over time stop inhaling nicotine completely. Vape juice costs less than tobacco, and there is less of a social stigma attached to vaping than cigarette smoking.
