The April auctions at Michaan's offers two new specialty auctions
In April, Michaan’s will conduct four auctions.



ALAMEDA, CA.- In April, Michaan’s will conduct four auctions. Starting the month off with the Annex Auction from April 10th through April 13th. Followed by the monthly Gallery Auction on Friday the 14th. Monday, April 17th will be a flagship day with two new specialty Auctions. The first is the Collectibles Auction starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Prints and Multiples Auction at 1:00 p.m.

The Gallery Auction will open with a wide variety of furniture and decorative arts, including a Napoleaon III Style Eboninzed Buffet ($2,000/2,500). A Newcomb Pottery Vase is also a shining star in the section as well as a highly sought after Navajo Third Phase Marked Sterling Concha Belt anointed with turquoise insets ($3,500/5,000).

The Fine Art section runs heavy on big name American Artists like James Weeks. An oil on panel, Landscape with Figures and Trees, signed lower right is expected to fetch $7,000/8,000. Among some of the other American Artists are William Sheets, Still Life, estimated $300/500 and Tom Holland, “Sako” sculpture estimated at $800/1,000.

Jewelry is right on time this month with a beautiful Diamond, Sapphire, Cultured Pearl, Enamel, Yellow Gold, Silver Pendant Watch estimated at $2,000/3,000. Rounding out the section are two magnificent rings. The first is a Diamond, 18K White Gold Ring estimated at $9,000/12,000. The second is a not heat 16.40 ct. Sri Lanka Sapphire, Diamond, White Gold Ring that would make anyone shine. This ring is estimated at $8,000/12,000.

The Gallery Auction will conclude with a collection of Asian Art spanning several genres, from Chinese cloisonne to Japanese tansu furniture. This includes items like a three section Japanese tansu cabinet estimated at $500/800. There is also a beautiful Tibetan Thangka of a Lama that is estimated at $1,000/1,500. There is a large cloisonne statue of a standing Buddha ($800/1,200) and vases depicting longevity Gods ($600/800).

Michaan’s flag ship day, Monday, April 17th starts off with the Collectibles Auction at 10 a.m. This auction features amazing comic books like Journey Into Mystery #83 in fine condition ($6,000/8,000). A 1934 Steelcraft Firetruck Pedal Car estimated at $1,500/2,000 and a carved wood carousel horse mad by Stein and Goldstein, circa 1908 ($1,500/2,000). You can also find classic memorabilia like a collection of Hank Williams family photographs spanning several generations ($400/600).

The Prints and Multiples Auction will start 1 p.m. and touting talented artists such Rufino Tamayo, “Torso de Mujuer.” lithograph ($1,500/2,500); Wayne Thiebaud, “Sorbet,” lithograph ($6,000/8,000); and Richard Diebenkorn, “Back View of Standing Woman with Striped Shirt,” hardground etching and scraping, ($5,000/7,000). This auction is round out with a wide variety of posters such as a Monterey Pop Festival handbill ($1,000/1,500) and a Frech Advertising Poster “Je Ne Fume Que Le Nil” by Leonettto Cappiello, circa 1930 ($1,200/1,800).
