Fine Autograph and Artifacts sale featuring royalty highlighted by historic King James VI warrant up for auction
King James VI signed warrant to discharge Walter Raleigh from the Tower of London among Royalty to go under the hammer.



BOSTON, MASS.- RR Auction's March Fine Autographs and Artifacts sale features 900+ remarkable lots, highlighted by a royalty section that boasts centuries of historically significant material, including a royal warrant signed by King James VI to discharge Sir Walter Raleigh from the Tower of London—the historic one-page document, dated March 19, 1615. The King's warrant was addressed to Sir George More for Raleigh's discharge, allowing him to prepare for his last voyage to the Americas. (Estimate: $100,000+)

A letter signed by King Henry VII regarding Catherine of Aragon's dowry: the one-page signed letter in French, is dated April 8, 1506. A letter of recommendation for Catherine of Aragon's chamberlain, who was leaving for Spain, sent to the King of Castile and Granada, Philip I of Austria. The matter at hand was evidently Catherine of Aragon's dowry and her hope that King Philip of Castile would exert pressure upon her father, Ferdinand V of Aragon. (Estimate: $30,000+)

A letter signed by King Henry VIII regarding the 'Father of the English Church' Thomas Cranmer. The one-page letter in French, October 1, 1532.The master of requests for the Emperor, thanking him for welcoming his earlier ambassadors and agents and for helping to maintain good relations between England and the Empire. He announces that he is sending Nicholas Hawkins, Archdeacon of Ely, as ambassador in place of Thomas Cranmer. (Estimate: $40,000+)

And some of the finest oversized autographed portraits of British monarchs to ever come to auction; among them is a portrait of the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II, signed in the year of her coronation.

Other highlights include an amazing Wright Bros. signed photo, historic Beatles autographs signed at Shea Stadium in 1965, Prince's stage-worn glove from the Purple Rain Tour, and important presidential autographs from Abraham Lincoln, Barack Obama, and John F. Kennedy.
