NEW YORK, NY.- Intersect Palm Springs announces the exhibitor list for its second edition in February 2023, welcoming a dynamic mix of 50 contemporary and modern art and design galleries. In addition, there will be five Cultural Partner Projects featuring regional institutions, and four Curated Spaces devoted to special exhibitions, as well as a robust schedule of talks and events.

The exhibitor list includes 18 galleries from California. Among them, 13 galleries are from Los Angeles and four galleries are from the Palm Springs region. There are five exhibitors from New Mexico. East Coast galleries continue to make a strong showing in year two, with 15 from New York and two from Boston.

Says Becca Hoffman, Managing Director of Intersect Palm Springs, “For our second edition of Intersect Palm Springs, it has been a true delight to see how engaged and involved our galleries are in the Fair’s overall programming from bringing their artists out for booth talks to planning events for community engagement and opportunities for connection. In addition to a great group of returning galleries, it is a pleasure to welcome some exceptional new additions from near and far.”

Adds Dirk von Gal, President of Intersect Art and Design, “There are a number of fascinating programs and exhibitions at this year’s Fair – please join us! To name just a few: Zombie Forest, a show about the plight of Joshua trees and the vital and sensitive desert ecosystem; Desert, Light Art!, a slideshow and lecture by Palm Springs Life’s Steven Biller; and a performance and spoken word series curated by Shana Nys Dambrot.”




A number of exhibitors are putting a special emphasis on work by women artists including Artist Estate Studio (Brooklyn, New York, USA) which will feature work by Siri Berg, Mimi Chen Ting, Judith Dolnick, Hermine Ford, Joan Witek, and Ali Dell Bitta; as well as Kathryn Markel Fine Arts (New York and Bridgehampton, New York, USA) which will present work by abstract female artists including Maeve D'Arcy, Joanne Freeman, Conny Goelz Schmitt, Susan English, and Erin O'Brien; and Richard Levy Gallery (Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA), which will show art by two contemporary female artists working with concepts of space and time in the northern New Mexico region: Nikesha Breeze and Jennifer Lynch; as well as the Landing (Los Angeles, California, USA), presenting a booth of work by Anne Lindberg and Amanda Valdez which examines the painting tradition, which has historically been male-dominated, and the fiber art tradition, which has been primarily female.

Themes of nature are the focus of booths by Manneken Press (Bloomington, Illinois, USA), including Rupert Deese's "Rivers & Mountains" series, Judy Ledgerwood's "Field Of Flowers,” Anna Kunz's "Echolocation," and Claire Lieberman's "Big Butterfly;” and Philip Martin Gallery (Los Angeles, California, USA), presenting, among others, new works by Aaron Morse who explores nature, ecology, and land use, and Daniel Dove who depicts single structures against banal landscapes and coolly decorated interiors.

A focus on color is another emerging theme at Intersect Palm Springs 2023 with Morgan Lehman Gallery (New York, New York, USA) showing artist Sara Genn's current thematic, ongoing installation project, "Continuous Monument to Color;” and Nancy Hoffman Gallery (New York, New York, USA) presenting a celebration of color with artists Viola Frey, Timothy Cummings, and Jesse Small providing rhythmic and chromatic energy.
