SINGAPORE.- Phillips will soon present UNTAPP3D FUTURE in Singapore, a pop-up exhibition of works by Southern California based artist Brett Crawford. Taking place on 11 January 2023 at the Mandala Club, the exhibition will coincide with the debut of ART SG, Southeast Asia’s largest ever art fair. Brett Crawford is a multidisciplinary artist whose works span across painting, sculpture, design, and street murals; each of his work is a cultural exchange between art, fashion, and street culture. Playing with fairy tale imagery and surreal settings, Crawford’s canvases are populated with pop references and contemporary icons that prompt the viewer to seek for hidden stories within.

Sandy Ma, International Specialist, Phillips, said: “We are delighted to present a series of remarkable works made by Brett Crawford specifically for the pop-up show in Singapore coinciding the highly anticipated edition of ART SG. Following the success of pop-up exhibitions held by Phillips in Taipei, Shanghai, Jakarta and Seoul in the last four years, we are excited to bring a vibrant and captivating project to another important Asian city spotlighting its growing art scene. Crawford recently marked his auction debut in Phillips’ Hong Kong Fall Auction with 3MO SUPPORT ignited competitive bidding and sold for over HK$2 million/ US$258,451, 2.5 times the pre-sale high estimate. We are very much looking forward to introducing works by this multi-talented artist to a new audience in Singapore and Southeast Asia.”

Brett Crawford, said: “I am thrilled to be partnering with Phillips to show my work for the first time in Asia and I feel so great to have my art introduced to a wider audience. I want to be remembered for the community work that I do, the art that I make, and the people's lives that I connect to. I am very connected to the idea of Pinocchio’s quest to be a real boy. I have created a new coming of age story about Pinocchio. I wondered whatever happened to that little brave boy, and so I have created a story about him as a young adult, in his 20s or 30s with a wife and 3 children. I look forward to starting 2023 by meeting collectors and art lovers from across Asia during the Singapore Art Week.”

Crawford has lived through a tough childhood and adulthood yet completing turning his life around towards his now skyrocketing artistic career. His works pay homage to a plethora of pop culture and contemporary icons from Pinocchio to Nike sneakers.

Highlighting the exhibition include 3DIFY, a graphite and acrylic on paper which shows a mentor teaching a student how to be a kind, honest and hardworking human being; EMPATH3TIC, a graphite, acrylic and gold leaf on paper with the message on opening our heart to understand the feelings of other people; and BEN3VOLENT, a life size wooden sculpture of a boy offering his heart, a self-portrait of the artist offering himself to his audience with love.
