NEW YORK, NY.- Phillips announced Portraiture by Seneca, the latest body of work by All Seeing Seneca featuring three animated 1:1 NFTs alongside the artist’s first painting to be offered at auction. Gaining international acclaim for her role as the lead designer of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Seneca has since become a central figure in the digital art world. Depicting the stages of invocation, emergence, endurance, and persistence, each work in Portraiture details a presence in oneself that is ultimately manifested through the artist's vivid imagery. Through this project, Seneca continues to push and develop the visual vocabulary of her own metaphorical creatures through different mediums. The NFTs in Portraiture will be minted through MoonPay’s new self-service platform, HyperMint, and the sale will be open for bidding on Phillips.com from 29 November to 2 December.

In discussing her creation of Portraiture, All Seeing Seneca said, “I'm trying to convey the quiet, but fiery part of our souls. The cosmic feeling parts that are unexplainable with words and better shown through creatures and concepts."

Rebekah Bowling, Phillips’ Senior Specialist, Head of 21st Century Art, said, “Seneca’s influence on the contemporary art scene is truly extraordinary, with few artists having had such a profound effect in such a remarkably short period of time. It has been a privilege working with her in bringing these new dreamlike works of art to our global community.”

On December 1st, the physical Portraiture painting will be on display at MoonPay’s Web3 Concept House during Art Basel in Miami. The VIP experience will be a showcase for web3 innovation in art, music, fashion and ownership.

“Seneca’s artistry played a key role in bringing NFTs to the forefront of public consciousness. Now she’s pioneering a new innovation: merging physical and digital with web3,” said Ivan Soto-Wright, MoonPay CEO and Co-Founder. “We’re excited to work with Seneca to help shape the future of art and creativity.”

Visual artist All Seeing Seneca is best known for her paintings and characters that may be described as a mix of “cosmic horror and candy land.” Rolling Stone magazine stated her “creativity helped fuel a technological revolution,” lauding her contributions as lead designer of Bored Ape Yacht Club, which rocked the NFT world as soon as they launched in 2021, becoming the center of a massive cultural community.

But Seneca’s story is a continuum, beginning long before that and extending into an upwardly trending future. Once a quiet kid living in her daydreams, she later studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and dedicated herself to a career in picture making.

Her practice landed her a commercial clientele while her own paintings and illustrations gathered prestigious awards and exhibited in international galleries, shown most recently at The Armory in New York City. Since leaving the BAYC project and under a guise of partial anonymity, Seneca’s work has continued to accrue accolades, like being declared one of Coindesk’s “Most Influential Figures of 2021”. Her work emerges with muted, yet illuminating palettes and expressions of surrealist elements, inspired by her love for animated films, memories of childhood, and the macabre.
