WASHINGTON, DC.-On Thursday, October 20, 2005 The Textile Museum will host the first George Hewitt Myers Tribute Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, DC. Participants will enjoy an elegant cocktail reception and lavish dinner created under the direction of the Mandarin’s award-winning chef. On its way to becoming DC’s first Five Star and Five Diamond property, the Mandarin provides a dramatic setting for what promises to be an evening to remember.

The highlight of this fundraising event will be the presentation of the first George Hewitt Myers Award. Named for The Textile Museum’s founder, the award recognizes exceptional contributions to furthering the field of textile arts. This year’s honoree, Jack Lenor Larsen, is an internationally acclaimed textile designer, author, collector and Honorary Trustee of The Textile Museum. His designs have been influenced by artisans and textile traditions from around the globe and in turn his legacy inspires creative impulses worldwide.
