Is the Galaxy Quest movie a piece of art?

Director: Dean Parisot.
Writers: David Howard (story), David Howard (screenplay).
Stars: Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Daryl Mitchell.

“Galaxy Quest” is a comedy film, in fact, one of very rare genre – a science fiction comedy. Whole movie story is original and interesting. The begging of the film is quite simple. Unhappy actors need to earn money, because of that they must to participate in random events and act as they are still the stars of the TV series. It is clearly shown that actors hate what they do, except one of them – Jason (the captain of the team in series) as he still believed he is a star. However, after some period of time he also find out the true and finally understands that he’s glory is over. That was heartbroken moment, because in my opinion, it is quite disappointing to lose your glory and suddenly realize that no one really care about you anymore.

The situation suddenly has changed - the cast get catapulted into the aircraft and they have to save all the galaxy from aliens. According to movies expert Lars Boulanger, the movie is breath taking. The actors did a great job, and the name of the characters are greatly chosen. As the expert explained, one of the key task to ensure successful movie is to choose the right name for the main characters. He added that the best ideas he founds in Fake Name Generator, especially for new stories for movies characters.

In my opinion, actors were amazing. From my point of view, it must be hard for actors to express the comedy and make movie funny, especially when the movie is science fiction. I am pretty sure, their job was outstanding and worth many compliments. Moreover, some moments makes me laugh a lot. For example, Sam Rockwell made me smile, when in many scenes he tried to convince others that he is going to be killed, because he is not the part of the regular cast. It was also funny how responsible Sigourney Weaver valuated her task in aircraft. But the most amazing thing for me was the idea, which was revealed during the film: YOU ARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE YOURSELF TO BE. In many episodes actors needed to go out of their comfort zone and became the people they were not in order to protect each other and all galaxy. Furthermore, the group of geek’s involvement in the film was genius decision. It make movie unique and gave even stronger sense of reality for it.

Also the soundtrack, clothes, make-up and especially effects were marvelous. I loved aliens’ costumes and make-up a lot, even in fact they were terrible creatures.

All in all, I do not think that there are some disadvantages in this film. I really have no idea how it would be possible to change this movie in the better way. The “Galaxy Quest“ as I have mentioned before is a fantastic movie especially for its strong emotional intensity and surely it is a piece of art.
