LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.-The Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery presents “Dwellings”, "Iron and Frozen Music", photographs by Gil Garcetti - Aline Barnsdall's Olive Hill Project, Frank Lloyd Wright sketches & drawings and Edmund Teske photographs, o view through December 31, 2005.

“Dwellings” - A group exhibition by Southern California artists who are influenced and receive their inspiration from architecture and urban life. Architecture has played a significant part in the consciousness of our metropolitan cities. The artists’ role in this exhibition is one of revealing personal observations within an ever-changing environment, and how the changing city landscape impacts our visual, social and spiritual lives. The exhibition will feature painting, drawing, photography and sculpture with artists Jennifer Celio, Holly Downing, Nicholas Fedak II, Jacalyn Lopez Garcia and Lucy H.G., Fielden Harper, Marina Moevs, John Outterbridge, Nancy Popenoe, Connie Samaras, Pat Warner, Doug Webb. Curators: Mark Steven Greenfield and Scott Canty

"Iron and Frozen Music", photographs by Gil Garcetti - The Municipal Art Gallery is pleased to present Gil Garcetti’s astonishing collection of photographs documenting the construction of the city’s latest architectural icon, the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Garcetti had unprecedented access to the site during the building’s construction and developed relationships with many of the steel workers whom he came to admire and who became the subjects his photographs. The exhibition is composed of these images as well as photographs of the hall in its completed majesty. The uncommon compelling angles of Garcetti’s viewfinder highlight the poetry of Frank Gehry’s design. Both of Garcetti's books, Iron and Frozen Music will be available for sale during the run of his exhibition. Curated by Mark Steven Greenfield

"Aline Barnsdall's Olive Hill Project," Frank Lloyd Wright sketches & drawings and Edmund Teske photographs - When Aline Barnsdall (1882-1946) commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) to assist with plans for Olive Hill, her property in Hollywood, she had in mind a grand scheme for a performing arts center. The scheme, however, was never fully realized. Sketches and plans for Barnsdall’s grand scheme that Wright prepared provide the only visual data of the project’s components, as conceived by Wright, which were not executed. This exhibition presents more than two dozen drawings for the Olive Hill project. Some represent conceptual ideas for the unrealized features Barnsdall hoped to create. Others document Hollyhock House and furnishings that Wright designed for the interiors.

Edmund Teske (1911-1996) was a native of Chicago where he began, at a very early age, to take photographs. This interest became a life-long passion and was shaped early on by his association with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesen, Wright’s residence in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Subsequently, Teske relocated to Los Angeles in 1943 where he met Aline Barnsdall. She invited him to live and work in Residence B, which he did from April of 1944 though 1949. Teske’s photographs of Olive Hill from this period are both a document of the property and illustrate his ability to manipulate the printing process to produce atmospheric prints that stretch the medium and define the artist. Included in this exhibition of twenty images are composites that he produced using older negatives after he left Residence B. Curated by Jeffrey Herr.
