Garment District Space for Public Art presents "Masks in Rave" by Brooklyn-based artist Ambrus Gero
12 imaginative works to be unveiled in the Kaufman Arcade in the Garment District.

NEW YORK, NY.- The Garment District Alliance announced the latest in its ongoing series of public art exhibits, featuring 12 paintings titled Masks in Rave by artist Ambrus Gero.

Located inside the Kaufman Arcade building on 139 W 35th Street, the free exhibit is accessible to the public through November 23rd. Masks in Rave is part of the Garment District Space for Public Art program, which showcases artists in unusual locations throughout the year and over 17 years it has produced more than 200 installations, exhibits and performances.

“Gero’s paintings are both imaginative and thought-provoking,” said Barbara A. Blair, President of the Garment District Alliance. “We are thrilled to highlight this local New York City artist as a part of our series of public exhibitions and we encourage everyone to stop by and see his works this fall.”

Through his paintings, Gero expresses his concept of unity and human alienation. Based in Brooklyn, he is an acclaimed Hungarian visual artist who creates kinetic sculptures, installations and oil paintings. Gero’s work has been showcased in art institutes and galleries internationally and in the United States, including Wassaic Project, Paradice Palase, Pratt Manhattan Gallery, Below Grand (formerly Super Dutchess Gallery), Fashion Institute of Technology New York, Carlsberg City Gallery & Art Salon Exhibition during the Copenhagen Photo Festival, and more.

Gero received the “Most Positive Artist Award” at Wam Design Gallery, the Pratt in Venice Scholarship, the Virginia Pratt Thaye Scholarship, and the Barrett Endowed Scholarship, among others. His work has been acquired by public and private art collections alike including the Erste Foundation and the Data Foundation. After earning his first Master of Fine Arts from the University of Pécs, Gero received his second Master of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute.
