HONOLULU.- Legendary pop artist Ruby Mazur, who just recently opened the 3000 square foot Ruby Mazur Gallery 280 Beach Walk in Waikiki, may be best known as the creator of the original “mouth & tongue” image designed for The Rolling Stones, first used on the “Tumbling Dice” record sleeve in 1972, and has also been quite vocal about his own personal battles with cancer in recent years, including just over this past year.

Knowing first-hand the struggle facing cancer, having gone through it himself for the third time and still battling, Mazur has been involved as a major philanthropist of giving back, especially to children in need fighting cancer. “Having just gone through hell again for the 3rd time battling this killer … Cancer, no one, especially a beautiful innocent child, should ever have to endure this horrible disease. A cure is long overdue and I for one am blessed to try and help”, explained Mazur.

Mazur has been very fortunate in his career to have design over 3000 album covers for some of the most influential Rock N Roll music artists in history dating back to the 1970’s, as well as his Rock N Roll portraits and many variations of his Mouth & Tongue design.

In homage to one of his all-time favorites, the 1971 classic children's film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", for which Mazur designed the original soundtrack album cover, he will feature a “Golden Ticket” raffle at the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation event, giving away one of his signed original giclee prints valued at $3775. In addition, 15% of all artwork sold will be donated to the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation.

Co-hosting the event with Mazur will be Michelle Meredith, Executive Director of the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation, who commented on doing this benefit with the Ruby Mazur Gallery, “We are so honored to have been selected as the recipient for funds raised at this event. It is through these community partnerships and generosity that we can continue to support the children and families we serve here in Hawai.”.

As many are aware, The Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation was formed in 1991, serving to assist, support, and advocate for the needs of children diagnosed with cancer, their families, and long-term survivors of childhood cancer. The Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation is the only organization in Hawaii whose exclusive focus is children with cancer and their families. All services are provided free of charge and all funds stay here in Hawaii.

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of his iconic Rolling Stones “mouth & tongue” image, Mazur opened the brand new 3,000 square foot gallery, located right next to The Hard Rock Café on Beach Walk in Honolulu, after living and painting for the last sixteen years on Maui, along with his sons Cezanne Mazur and Miro Mazur, who joined forces with their father as Gallery Directors and will oversee operations.

While best known for his “Mouth & Tongue” creations, pop art collectors have long been drawn to his rock-n-roll portraits of many of the top music artists of our time including Freddie Mercury, Keith Richards, Willie Nelson, Cher, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Billy Joel, David Bowie, Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, Jerry Garcia, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen and so many more.

Every aspect of the Ruby Mazur Gallery is influenced by rock-n-roll.
