NEW YORK, NY.- ART FOR CHANGE, a leading art platform for the socially conscious collector, announced today that it has collaborated with New York-based South African artist, Shaun Ellison to offer a series of works on paper along with a new, hand-embellished, limited-edition print. The series is timed to launch around the upcoming US Open, which takes place from August 29, 2022 – September 11, 2022. A tennis player himself, Ellison captures the spontaneity and frailty of groups, success, and failure in the sport through vibrant and dynamic paintings. ART FOR CHANGE will plant 10 trees for every artwork sold as part of its ongoing initiative to fight climate change and support reforestation efforts. This year alone, ART FOR CHANGE has already planted over 2,500 trees.

“Recently named one of Artsy’s ‘Artists on the Rise,’ Ellison’s work captures the legacy of notable players like Arthur Ashe, the first and only black man to ever win the US Open, Wimbledon, and the Australian Open, as well as the famous Nadal vs Federer match at Wimbledon in 2008,” says ART FOR CHANGE Founder, Jeanne Masel. “We are thrilled to showcase his work as part of this important initiative.”

The series of works include three works on paper and a new, hand-embellished print. Each work captures moments throughout the history of tennis that are meaningful to the artist, who beautifully memorializes the various emotions that come with the beloved sport of tennis.

“The US Open is an iconic tradition – one that has inspired my work for many years,” says Shaun Ellison. “I am honored to work with ART FOR CHANGE on a collaboration that is not only exciting, but supports an important mission that is close to my heart. I am deeply concerned about our planet and I know that planting trees will help contribute to slowing down the effects of climate change. I have tried to recycle things I have around me and also used waste as part of my practice. I hope to keep bringing awareness to the effects of climate change through my work, as well as contribute to improvements whenever I can.”

Shaun Ellison’s works on paper will be available starting August 25th and the hand-embellished prints will be released on August 30th. As in all series, the artist will receive 50% of the net proceeds of sales.
