Assistance For Hurricane Katrina |

|
CANYON, TX.-The devastation of Hurricane Katrina has affected numerous cultural sites from New Orleans to Mississippi. These museums and institutions need our help in order to preserve the heritage, so important to us all.
To assist in this effort, the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum will donate all admission revenue from this weekend (September 17 and 18) to the Historical Resources Recovery Fund at the American Association of State and Local History (AASLH). The AASLH has established a fund to directly assist organizations affected by Hurricane Katrina. Donations to the fund will go directly to the rebuilding efforts of museums devastated by the storm.
“Many of the institutions affected are small to mid-sized museums, already suffering from the effects of the recent economic downturn and budget cuts at the local, state, and federal level. Institutions already suffering financially have little or no resources to rebuild. Katrina will push many to the breaking point,” stated PPHM Director Guy C. Vanderpool.
To make a contribution to this effort, please send your donations to AASLH, 1717 Church Street, Nashville, Tennessee, 37203. Please note that your contribution is for the Historical Resources Recovery Fund. Donations may also be left at the PPHM on Saturday and Sunday, and will be sent directly to AASLH.
