PARIS.- The gallery will keep its address at 18 Avenue Matignon in the 8th Arrondissement in Paris. The expansion is set to take place in early September.
The extension of the gallery symbolizes
Almine Rech's ambition to keep growing in the French capital in a community that has been instrumental in shaping the gallery since its inception in 1997. The addition to the existing space will be located in the elegant Haussmann building and will provide greater visibility to the roster of international artists the gallery represents.
Almine comments: With the changes in Parisian traffic in recent years, we decided it was necessary to establish our presence on both sides of the Louvre in order to be closer to all of our collectors. Avenue Matignon has always been a neighborhood of art galleries, as it is close to the museums of the 16th Arrondissement, the auction houses, and the Grand and Petit Palais. Today, the 8th Arrondissement has become one of the major hubs in the international art market, so it only makes sense that we expand our presence there.
The inaugural show at Almine Rech Paris | Matignon will be a solo exhibition of Vietnamese artist Mai-Thu, titled Inventing Tradition A Vietnamese Painter in France opening in early September, 2022. A solo show of Alexander Calder, organized in collaboration with the Calder Foundation, will follow in October 2022.
