SEOUL.- The Galleries Association of Korea announces Kiaf SEOUL’s exhibitor list for its 2022 edition in September, featuring 164 galleries from 17 countries and territories. Cementing its position as the first and longest-running international art fair in Korea, Kiaf SEOUL 2022 will showcase more than 100 Korean galleries alongside a strong lineup of international galleries, presenting a unique overview of Korea’s art scene and its latest trends, while creating an international platform for its exhibitors and visitors. 37 galleries join the fair for the first time, including Anat Ebgi (Los Angeles), Anne Mosseri-Marlio Galerie (Basel), Axel Vervoordt (Wijnegem, Hong Kong), Baik Art (Seoul), Carvalho Park (New York), Cristea Roberts Gallery (London), Eduardo Secci (Florence, Milan), Galerie Thomas Schulte (Berlin), Galleria Continua (San Gimignano, Les Moulins, Habana, Beijing, Rome, São Paulo, Paris), Ora-Ora (Hong Kong), Rachel Uffner Gallery (New York), and Yumiko Chiba Associates (Tokyo) among others.

This year also marks the debut of Frieze Seoul – Frieze’s first art fair in Asia – in partnership with the Galleries Association of Korea. Kiaf SEOUL and Frieze Seoul will take place concurrently at COEX, reinforcing Seoul’s position as a global hub for arts and culture. Kiaf SEOUL, Kiaf PLUS, and Frieze Seoul will bring together over 350 galleries across the globe to Seoul in September, aiming to offer one of the largest art fair weeks in Asia.

Dal-Seung Hwang, President of the Galleries Association of Korea, commented, ‘With over two decades of history and experiences, Kiaf is in a unique position to showcase contemporary Korean art in unparalleled depth and breadth. At the same time, we’re proud to have evolved into a global gathering place for the art world, with our exhibitor list this year more international than ever. We are seeing great interest from collectors and industry professionals both in Korea and internationally and look forward to welcoming our visitors in September.’

16 galleries will dedicate their booths to solo presentations of emerging artists, 13 of which are participating in Kiaf for the first time. Highlights include Ricardo Passaporte at Duarte Sequeira (Braga), Maximilian Prüfer at Galerie Kandlhofer (Vienna), Guimi You at Make Room (Los Angeles), and Backside Works at SH Gallery (Tokyo) among others. In addition to the 16 solo presentations of emerging artists, Axel Vervoordt will showcase a solo booth of works by Kim Sooja, including a new fiberglass sculpture suspended above a mirror.
