CATSKILL, NY.- Foreland, the burgeoning arts campus in Catskill, NY, announced Georgia Wright as the Director of Curatorial and Cultural Strategy. In this newly created role, Wright will work closely with the Executive Director Stef Halmos to oversee Forelands year-round curatorial programming and manage its strategic partnerships, collaborating with leading international artists and institutions to produce engaging, large-scale experiences and exhibitions.
For over a decade, Wright has worked internationally as a cultural strategist and curator for leading institutions, nonprofits, and brands, including EDITION and PUBLIC hotels, Bang & Olufsen, and LVMH, to name a few. Wright specializes in connecting culture with commerce, conceptualizing and producing dozens of programs, projects, installations and events spanning art, design, film, music and beyond. She has collaborated with artists, designers, and cultural organizations such as Jonah Bokaer, Zaha Hadid, The Swiss Institute, NADA, Misha Kahn, Alex Schweder, Misaki Kawai, Performa, MoMA PS1, and others.
Im thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Foreland. It offers inspiring possibilities for new models of cultural programming and projects, within an evocative framework our upstate environs and historic mill building. says Wright. Im incredibly excited to conceptualize and produce original projects in this unique context.
Wright will expand and helm the innovative programming already established at the 85,000 square-foot arts campus, which in its first first year has already hosted exhibitions and special projects with leading artists (Peggy Ahwesh, Virginia Overton, Reggie Madison), galleries (Rachel Uffner, MRS.), and art fairs (NADA). Foreland will continue to bring on partners and collaborators from around the world as well as develop internal programming that is varied in scale and audience.
The newly created role and program expansion is part of the official grand opening and completion of Forelands three-building development, as Summer 2022 will mark the first season that the entire Foreland campus and all of its spaces are fully completed and open to the public.
Bringing Georgia into the Foreland fold was an absolute no-brainer, says Stef Halmos, Forelands Founder & Executive Director. Her working methods are unpretentious and conceptually rigorous in equal measure, and she genuinely understands the Foreland ethos. In addition to an enviable career in Cultural Strategy and Creative Direction, she's a warm, eloquent, formidable force of brilliance for and within our team.
