MILAN.- Through his Galleria d'Arte Maggiore g.a.m., Franco Calarota has always enhanced the artists he believed in working with extreme passion on two fronts: the market and the cultural promotion, thus creating some exhibitions that have entered the history of art including "Giorgio Morandi. Ettore Spalletti. Dialogue of light" (2015-2016) within the walls of his gallery, and through numerous initiatives strongly desired and curated by him. Among these, the exhibition“ Giorgio Morandi. Silences” at the Museum of Palazzo Fortuny in Venice, "Giorgio Morandi and Robert Ryman" in Los Angeles (2015), Henry Moore in Bologna (1995), Giorgio de Chirico at the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C. (2013), the many exhibitions held at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art in London, just to name a few. And then the collaborations with museums and institutions in Italy and abroad including public commissions, such as the "Rampante" monument by Arman (1999) dedicated to the Ferrari F40 and located at the entrance of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola and "Giorgio de Chirico. La Fabrique des rêves" at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (2009).

From 2019 Franco Calarota had then realized his goal of creating a new reality totally dedicated to the promotion of art based in Venice: ACP - Palazzo Franchetti, offering important exhibitions such as "Jean Dubuffet and Venice" and "Massimo Campigli and the Etruscans. A pagan happiness", writing, even in these cases, another capitol in the history of art.

It is Roberta and Alessia Calarota's will to realise some of the cultural projects on which Franco was already working, including the important exhibition dedicated to Mark Rothko and Giorgio Morandi which will be held in 2023/2024 and the upcoming events in conjunction with the 2022 Biennale.

"An art lover, who made his profession out of this passion with his Galleria d'Arte Maggiore opened in 1978 (...) a national and international point of reference for those who love art and, in particular, his beloved Giorgio Morandi. Franco Calarota has in fact brought and made Morandi known and appreciated in the world " - Quotidiano Nazionale 18 March 2022
