BASEL.- VOLTA Basel, the international and established satellite fair coinciding with Art Basel, returns to the Swiss art capital in June under the leadership of VOLTA Director Kamiar Maleki. From June 13 to 19, collectors and visitors are invited to discover VOLTA Art Fair.
VOLTA Basel is the second VOLTA fair edition to take place in 2022: VOLTA returns to New York from May 18 to 22, 2022 at 548 West 22nd Street, the former Dia Building and Hauser & Wirth gallery space.
• In keeping with the fair’s foundation "Discover. Connect. Collect.", VOLTA Art Fair will emphasize the art market’s diversity with a focus on the most recent developments, both nationally and internationally.
• Fair director Kamiar Maleki, who was appointed director at the end of 2019, aims to develop the VOLTA Art Fair into the foremost platform for international art trends alongside Art Basel.
• The 2022 Basel edition features galleries from: Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Malaysia, Spain, Switzerland, U.K., USA and the United Arab Emirates, as well as young ultra-contemporary programs featuring NFT art.
The art market has always been one of the most traditional yet fast-moving sectors in the cultural industry. Whether new media, technical or stylistic novelties, few other markets show new developments at such a high frequency.
In keeping with the fair’s foundation "Discover. Connect. Collect.", the art fair will show the art market’s diverse creative output with a focus on the most recent developments, both nationally and internationally. The art fair provides a strong supplement to the established dialogues presented by Art Basel.
Since 2005, VOLTA Art Fair presents important international presentations from young and established galleries, providing a platform for exposure alongside Art Basel. Fair director Kamiar Maleki, who was appointed as Director of VOLTA Art Fair at the end of 2019, aims to expand the fair into the foremost platform for international art trends by questioning, exploring, and showcasing developments in the art market through a diverse roster of exhibitors. The experienced art collector has a special feel for trends and deliberately pursues distinct viewpoints and geographic perspectives — these include perspectives posited by galleries from Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Malaysia, Spain, Switzerland, U.K., USA and the United Arab Emirates, as well as young ultra-contemporary programs who deal in NFTs.
Among the exhibiting galleries are Galerie Ernst Hilger (Austria), Galerie Thomas Fuchs and Christian Marx Galerie (both Germany), Charlotte Fogh Gallery and KIRK Gallery (both Denmark), as well as Artemis Art (Malaysia), Shiras Galería and WADSTRÖM TÖNNHEIM (Spain). Exhibitors from the host country include ARTEM - REICH, Gallery CasaGalleria MonteGeneroso and Gallery Schmidt (Switzerland).
