Charlie Sheen's former baseball card will raise millions for Boys & Girls Club
Stolen from a Times Square restaurant in 1998, recovered by the FBI and valued today at $3 million, the card’s current owner in Oklahoma will donate all his proceeds to a Boys & Girls Club when it is sold at auction in March by Mile High Card Company of Castle Rock, Colorado.

CASTLE ROCK, CO.- The rare, century-old Honus Wager baseball card that was owned by actor Charlie Sheen when it was stolen from a sports-themed restaurant in New York City in 1998 is now expected to sell for $3 million or more at an online auction in Colorado in March. The card’s current owner will donate all the proceeds to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Oklahoma.

“This is the famous 1909-1911 era, T206 series Honus Wagner card that Charlie Sheen loaned for display at the Official All Star Café in Times Square. The restaurant’s investors included sports celebrities Andre Agassi, Wayne Gretzky, Ken Griffey Jr., Joe Montana, Shaquille O’Neal, and Tiger Woods,” explained Brian Drent, president of Mile High Card Company in Castle Rock, Colorado.

“A few years after the card was recovered by the FBI, Sheen sold it in 2001 for $75,000, a record price at the time for a Wagner card in this condition. The current owner is an Oklahoma business executive who acquired it over a decade ago for $400,000. I anticipate it will sell for at least $3 million,” said Drent.

“The consignor, who wants to remain anonymous, will donate all his proceeds to a Boys & Girls Club in Oklahoma. He’s also giving all the proceeds from other sports cards and memorabilia he’s consigned to our auction, so the club could receive a total donation of $7 million or more,” added Drent.

Bidding on the card begins online on March 10, 2022 and is scheduled to end on March 31 at www.MileHighCardCo.com. Information about the card is available at https://milehighcardco.com/viewuserdefinedpage.aspx?pn=T206HonusWagner2022.

The card is certified genuine by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) and graded Poor-Fair PSA1 (on a grading scale of 1 to 10).

“Despite its worn condition, it is valued in the millions because the legendary T206 series Wagner cards are considered ‘The Holy Grail’ of baseball cards. Less than 80 are known to exist, and this one has an amazing backstory of celebrity ownership, theft, and recovery,” said Drent. “It is known in the hobby as ‘the Charlie Sheen All Star Café Honus Wagner,’ and is a celebrity of its own.”

Nicknamed "The Flying Dutchman,” acclaimed Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Johannes Peter "Honus" Wagner (1874-1955) was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936.
