GLEN COVE, NY.- Following their highly successful series of Winter auctions, Roland Auctions NY in Glen Cove, NY presented their final winter auction on February 26th, with David Webb jewels taking the spotlight, along with antique furniture pieces and other top sellers of the day.

Roland NY curated over 750 lots of one-of-a-kind and fresh-to-market Art, Prints, Furniture, Porcelain, Textiles, Silver, Gold and Silver Jewelry, Rugs, Collectibles, Asian Art and Lighting from estates and collectors from all over the Northeast for this sale.

In the impressive jewelry arena, highlights were two stunning David Webb pieces: the David Webb 18K & Diamond Earrings, 18K yellow gold and white gold earrings, set with pave diamonds weighing 6.88 cts., E-F color. Purchased at Neiman Marcus in 2017 (purchase receipt provided). 4.9 dwt. inclusive. [Each earring: 1 5/8" x 5/8"],selling for $15,000 and the David Webb 18K, Kunzite & Diamond Ring, large octagonal 18K hammered yellow gold ring set with a kunzite stone and diamonds, stamped inside the setting. Size 6. 19.6 dwt. inclusive, which sold for $10,000.




Fine and contemporary arts included the top seller of the auction; a Chalood Nimsamer (Thai, 1929-2015) Woman Kneeling - Mixed Media, mixed media work on paper depicting a kneeling woman holding a scythe, signed and dated 2499 (1956) lower right. [Image: 30 1/2' H x 20 3/4" W; Frame: 39 3/4" H x 30" W], which sold high at $16, 250 and a Large Chinese Landscape- W/C Painting, Watercolor on paper painting of male figures in pagoda garden, in landscape, mounted on canvas, wood stretcher. [35 1/2" H x 48" W], selling for $3,125.

In other areas, a very unique Steinway & Sons Grand Piano, 1925, Steinway & Sons Model XR piano, 1925, in ebony case, originally a player piano, converted to a regular piano, having had the player mechanism removed and the legs adapted. [38 5/8" H x 57" W x 65 5/8" D], sold for $10,000 and an After Aristide Maillol (French, 1861-1944, Jeune Fille Accroupie, Bronze, sculpture of a young girl crouching, on self base. Signed on side of base. [8 3/8" H x 3 1/2" W x 4" D], sold for $4,687, while a Walther: Large KPM Porcelain Plaque, porcelain painted plaque depicting a woman in a garden, signed lower right "Walther", circa 1890. [Sight: 121/2" H x 7 1/2" W; Frame: 24 1/2' H x 19 1/2" W], also went for $4,687.

In decorative arts, a Large Chinese Famille Rose Cylindrical Storage Box, antique Chinese famille rose large cylindrical covered storage box. Provenance: Estate of Roger Prigent - Malmaison. [15" H x 14" Diam.], sold for $7500 and a rare Art Deco Marble Mantel Clock, tall clock with 13-jewel works, having two bronze Japanese figural surmounts. [11" H x 14" W x 5" D] sold for $2,500.

Antique furniture pieces also got a lot of attention, including William IV Credenza, Gillows Manner, ca 1830, William IV breakfront gonçalo alves (tigerwood) side cabinet, circa 1830, in the manner of Gillows, with a later marble top above a central pair of cupboard doors with two shelves and pleated green silk, flanked on either side with conform cupboards, twice stamped JAMES WINTER 101 WARDOUR STREET SOHO. James Winter was an important furniture dealer, broker and licensed appraiser based in Soho, London between 1823 and 1840. Provenance: Sotheby's, London "Collections" sale, October 31, 2017, lot 353. [Overall: 36 1/2" H x 71 1/2" W x 14 1/2" D], which sold for $5625.

In addition, a Pair of English Regency Chiffoniers, English Regency period rosewood chiffoniers, circa 1825, with fine bronze mounts and green marble tops, one door opening to the right and the other to the left, with a secret compartment under the shelves. [54" H x 25 1/4" W x 18" D; 36" from floor to top of marbles.]. In good condition, with some small scratches to the finish where the door rubs the base, sold for $5,312, a gorgeous English Regency-Style Dining Table, Early 20th century English mahogany circular extending dining table, with five additional leaves supported by sliding bearers, on turned and spreading support with brass caps and castors; leaves contained in green baize-lined mahogany case, with "U" clips. Provenance: Christie's, London "Interiors" sale, May 18, 2016, lot 344. [Table: 29 1/2" H x 60" Diam.; With leaves: 84" Diam.]. In overall good condition with the inevitable minor scuffs, scratches, knocks and marks consistent with age and use. There are a few small chips and knocks to the edge of the table, and there are small knocks and chips to the edges of the leaves as well. The leaves are in good condition. The colour of the central table top is lighter than the leaves, sold for $5,000 and a pair of Louis Majorelle Art Nouveau Cabinets, A pair of kingwood and marble inset bedside night tables, circa 1900, each with an oval candle holder above a marble top and a single drawer, the under tier above a cupboard door. Provenance: Sotheby's, London "Collections" sale, October 31, 2017, lot 294. [41 1/2" H x 15 1/4" W x 13 1/8" D]. Sold for $3,125.
