In Woodside Queens NY, artists gathered recently as They painted vibrantly embellished portraits across the walls of local business building.
Far from being a renegade action or unlawful act of graffiti, the team was working under the auspices of Welling Court Mural Project [
@wellingcourtmuralproject], created to facilitate mural paintings on a blighted city walls.
This particular local building murals was commissioned by G&M Distributors located on the corner of 50th street & 28th ave, after its staff were contacted by the Local 114th Precinct. “How can we do something that would give the neighborhood some creative light? The answer to that question was a budget & several talented artist to participate on the rawest canvases.
“It really adds a layer of color and inspiration in these grim times,” gazing residence said.
Museums and galleries around the world have locked their doors as people wait out the coronavirus pandemic in isolation. But works of street arts are offering images of beauty and hope to those venturing out for exercise.

@shaunlee.nyc] Shines light on his late childhood friend and neighbor Elliot Clairborn 29 who’ve recently lost his life to gun violence within his hometown. These Murals are now on permanent display for the public to enjoy. We encourage all art enthusiasts to explore the community art, and restaurants of Astoria/ Woodside, and add these murals to their visiting list as well.
