NEW YORK, NY.- Dieu Donnè announced the appointment of Serena Trizzino as its new Executive Director effective March 1, 2022. She succeeds John Shorb, who led the organization from 2018 to 2022 and will continue to have an important role as Strategic Advisor.

Trizzino will be responsible for overseeing and expanding the organization’s artistic and educational programming. Under her leadership, Dieu Donné will focus on serving emerging and established artists through the collaborative creation of contemporary art using the process of hand papermaking.

Serena Trizzino has served as a member of Dieu Donné’s Board of Directors for more than two years. She has extensive management experience in operations, sales and marketing in the art world. In 2005, she established her own art advisory firm, Serena Trizzino Contemporary Art Advisory, through which she has built private collections and supported artists in the advancement of their careers. She has curated numerous exhibitions, and as an advisory board member of other non-profit organizations, she has contributed to public art projects such as Residents of New York by Andres Serrano.

“Over her time as a Board Member, Serena has proven herself to be a skilled forward thinker and passionate arts professional,” Susan Gosin, founder and chair of the board of directors, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be working with Serena, whose vision for collaborative projects and devotion to the creative process make her the perfect person to further Dieu Donné’s role as a leading player in handmade paper art. We are very fortunate to have had the best executive director candidate coming from within the organization.”

Dieu Donné is a non-profit organization founded in 1976 by Susan Gosin and Bruce Wineberg to explore the untapped potential of hand papermaking as an art medium. The organization introduces artists from a wide variety of practices to the creative possibilities in hand papermaking, fostering experimentation and creating innovative works of art. Over the years Dieu Donné has collaborated with emerging and established artists including Polly Apfelbaum, Melvin Edwards, Nicole Eisenman, Ann Hamilton, Jim Hodges, Glenn Ligon, Do Ho Suh, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Nari Ward, and many others.
