5 Ways to Sell Your Art

If you are artistic and you have a portfolio of work lying around at home, you’ve probably wondered if it’s possible to sell it and make some money. The answer is yes. It is entirely possible to sell your work yourself. The ways to do so depending on your ultimate goal and whether your art is just a hobby or a serious career. Either way, it can be done – you have to know what to do. Here are five different ways to get your name out there in the hope of selling art.

Go to College
If you’re serious about your art, the best step is to go to college and get a degree. It’s the best possible way to learn everything you can and end up with the qualifications needed to back up your skills. The college will also allow you to network, which is essential for finding opportunities and ways to sell your work. Student loans are available from private lenders if you don’t have immediate cash to pay for your college education. The return on investment you make will more than makeup for the initial costs.

Create a Website
Creating a website allows you to have your art seen by a global audience, but it’s also a chance for you to show off your creative skills. There’s more involved than simply throwing your artwork online and then hoping to attract customers. You’ll have to have an eye-catching site and one that uses SEO so that it ranks high in search results. In addition, you can look into how to use artificial intelligence for web design so that you can be in line with the tech demands of your target audience. Some companies will also do most of the work by providing the apps needed to make sales.

Sell Your Prints
Some websites will host your work and pay you each time one of your prints is ordered. This is an excellent way to start, as it will give you an idea of how much in demand your work is. You can also sell prints to friends and family, or if there is a local business prepared for you to sell prints in their store, give it a go and see if they sell.

Start a Blog
Writing a blog will attract like-minded people who want to read what you have to say. Creating engaging content will gradually build you an audience, and you can use your blog to sell your work. Another option is to use your blog to direct people towards your social media platforms or website. If this is the route you want to take, ensure that you have a specific area to write about instead of just art. It cannot be easy to maintain an audience if you are too general. Additionally, be sure you have creative social media content, so when your audience lands on your account, they have a reason to stick around and engage.

Teach
You have the skills, so why not teach people? It’s a way to make extra money and get people involved in something that you are passionate about. Aside from the teaching aspect, getting your name out there is a way. While you might not be selling your physical art, you are still selling all the skills involved in creating art. Advertise your services in local newspapers or online and see the interest.
