GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY in Glen Cove, NY will kick off the New Year with their New Year’s Day auction on January1st, 2022, featuring selections from multiple estates with a spotlight onthe impressive collection of a socialite from European nobility with properties at The Pierre Hotel in Manhattan and in Lloyd Harbor, Long Island. The collection features everything from Louis XIV to Mid- Century Modern, along with art, silver and jewelry.

Previews for the New Year’s Day auction January 1st will be held on Thursday, December 30th from 10:00AM to 6:00PM and Friday, December 31st from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.

In the art arena, highlights from the New Year’s Day auction will include a Josef Floch: "Three Sisters" - Oil PaintingJosef Floch (Austrian-American, 1894-1977) oil on canvas titled "Three Sisters". An important painting with excellent provenance: sold directly from the artist to the consignor. This painting was awarded "The Andrew Carnegie Prize" in 1970. [Art: 53" H x 39" W; Frame: 58 1/2" H x 44 1/2" W]. Estimate $50,000 - $75,000 and an After Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (French, 1796-1875) "Large Tree With Figures", oil on canvas, signed "C. Corot" lower right. Provenance: Deaccession from the Ann Norton Museum, West Palm Beach, FL; purchased by private collector. [Art: 9 7/8" H x 12 7/8" W; Frame: 15" H x 18" W]. Estimate $20,000 - $30,000, while a Paul Dubois (French, 1829-1905) “Marguerite", Bronze sculpture, late 19th century patinated bronze sculpture of a woman playing a harp, signed "P. Dubois" [32" H x 12" W x 10" D] is estimated at $15,000 - $20,000 and a 172 Steinway Baby Grand Piano Model M, 1921, serial # 206504, with Mahogany painted black case. (38 1/2" H x 57 1/2" W x 66 1/4" D) is estimated at $6,000 - $8,000.




Antique furniture will also be in the spotlight with an English Mahogany Breakfront Cabinet, C. 1800, Very fine late George III Period mahogany breakfront cabinet, circa 1800. Literature: Featured in "The Dictionary Of English Furniture From The Middle Ages To The Late Georgian Period" (3 volumes) by Edwards, Ralph & Maquoid, Percy, Page 94, fig. 38 (considered by many experts as The Bible of English Furniture). Continental tortoiseshell veneered walnut cabinet on stand, the cabinet fitted with drawers surrounding a central door opening to three drawers. Early 18th century. [59 1/2" H x 37" W x 12" D], estimate $2,000 - $3,000 and a Rosewood round table with Pietra Dura Top, [23" H x 23 1/2" Diam.]. Estimate $900 - $1,200.

More contemporary furniture pieces include a Pair of Mid-Century Modern inlaid servers, by Leonard Haber for Albano Furniture Co. One server top opens as a bar. Decorative items will be in abundance at Roland Auctions, who will offer a pair Palatial Gilt & Silvered Bronze Candelabra, each having 7 arms around a center candle post, on a Corinthian column base. [49" H x 19 1/2" across arms; Base: 13" x 13"]. Estimate $3,000 - $5,000, a pair of Palm Tree Gilt Bronze Candlesticks, possibly retailed by Tiffany's. [13 1/2" H x 5" Diam. (base)]. Estimate $3,000 - $5,000, a Bronze Mounted Red Marble Urn, with cover, on a square base. [Overall: 28" H x 11" W x 7" D; Base: 7" x 7"]. Estimate $3,000 - $4,000 and a pair of Bronze Dore & Onyx Pedestals, with gilt bronze mounts. [46 1/2" H x 12" W x 12" D (base); 10" W x 10" D (top)]. Estimate $1,500 - $2,500.

Also being offered is a large Canton Polychrome Enamel Vase, having pierced handles, on a teakwood base. [Overall: 40" H (including base)]. Estimate $3,000 - $4,000, a pair of Buccellati Italian Silver Candlesticks, marked on bases Buccellati / 925 / Made in Italy, the octagonal bases and reeded stems mounted with alternating lapis lazuli and malachite stones. 20th century,. Gilt solder, blue enamel and diamond inlaid letter opener, the handle with a bulldog head with red ruby eyes. 8 1/4" L. Estimate $1800-2400.
