From busy households to living by yourself or with your partner, your floor is bound to get messy from time to time. Luckily, here are some time tips and tricks you can do to maintain the look of your solid and engineered hardwood floor.
Regular Sweeping
One of the best ways to keep your flooring looking clean is to sweep it at least every day. It doesn’t take long, in fact, it only takes you about 2 minutes! Watch out with harsh bristles though as this may scratch your wooden floor. The last thing you want is your floor to be full of scratches after you’ve just had it fitted! Opt-in for a soft bristle sweeping brush that will gently glide over the surface.
Mopping
Mopping should be done every so often to ensure your floor looks squeaky clean (and hygienic). However, mopping your floor too much may cause your hardwood floor to warp. Remember, natural hardwood floors don’t like water very much! For the best results, use a damp mop with soapy water. That should do the trick! If you have a specialist floor cleaner from your flooring manufacturer, feel free to use that. But do your research first if you’re using a store-bought cleaner!
Vacuum
Giving your floor a good vac is the best way of quickly getting up unwanted bits of dirt and dust. And for the best results, use a vacuum that’s suitable for your floor. Attaching a softer nozzle can stop your floor from scratching, especially if you have a laminate or
LVT flooring. We recommend you vacuum your floor at least once a week to keep it properly maintained.
Rugs and Slippers
You should try to avoid wearing your outdoor shoes inside as you can carry mud inside and other bits of debris. The last thing you want is gravel scratching your floor! To prevent this, place mats by your door to stop any unwanted nasties from coming in. Remember to switch your shoes to something more comfortable and softer, like slippers. That way, less dirt will enter your home.
