MONTREAL.- The Canadian Centre for Architecture抯 annual ball, held 1 June and inspired by the current exhibition The 60s: Montr閍l Thinks Big, enabled the institution to raise $425,000. This Celebration of Architecture with a 60s twist was held under the honorary patronage of co-chairs Stephen R. Bronfman, Chairman, Claridge Inc., and composer and songwriter Robert Charlebois. Some 700 people from the worlds of art, design, business, architecture and the built environment expressed their enthusiasm for the CCA at this memorable event.

揑t was both a resounding success and a great party!� said Founding Director and Chair of the Board of Trustees, Phyllis Lambert, 搘e celebrated the spirit of the 60s � the d閏or, the food, and the music and were able to capture some of the sparkling ambiance and creative energy of that extraordinary decade. We thank our partners and guests for making the evening possible, and thus contributing to the ongoing development of the CCA.�

During this annual fundraising event, the red carpet was rolled out in front of the CCA抯 south fa鏰de on Ren�-L関esque Boulevard. Guests were welcomed in the Shaughnessy House for 60s style cocktails and mini hamburger and grilled cheese hors d抩euvres. They then proceeded to the immense tent in Baile Park for a gastronomic feast, specially conceived for the occasion by chef Giovanni Apollo, Honorary Bocuse d扥r 2005, of Apollo-Globe-Traiteur. Swept along by the classic chansons of Robert Charlebois, go-go dancers, and a swinging 60s d閏or, guests enjoyed a memorable evening grooving to the tunes of the decade抯 greatest hits!

Funds raised at the 2005 CCA Ball will help the institution continue its mandate to promote thought and debate on the art of architecture, its history, theory, practice, and role in society today.
