NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s New York presents Handbags x HYPE: The Luxury Remix, a curated auction that reformulates our understanding of luxury today. The confluence of heritage fashion houses and streetwear has reinvented the luxury space. From inspiration to collaboration, this dramatic shift has remixed luxury and redefined what is collectible. The sale will be open for bidding online from November 24-December 9, and the full selection will be open for preview by appointment at Christie’s New York from December 3-7.

Leading the sale, we are proud to offer one of the most collectible pair of sneakers to ever come to market: a pair of game-worn and dual signed Air Jordan XIIIs ($300,000-500,000), from Michael Jordan’s last regular season game of the Chicago Bull’s championship season. Also on offer are two covetable collections of iconic contemporary sneakers: the most impressive groupings of contemporary sneakers ever released, a complete set of Kanye West Adidas Yeezy 350s ($30,000-50,000), released between 2015 and 2020, to a complete set of Virgil Abloh Nike Off-Whites, 2017- 2020 ($60,000-90,000), comprising 57 and 50 pairs respectively.

From the most classic and collectible Hermès pieces, such as a rare Himalaya Birkin 35 ($80,000-100,000) and a Rouge Vif Veau Doblis Kelly 25 with diamond and 18k gold hardware ($20,000-30,000), to limited edition bags making their auction debut, such as the Menthe Fray Fray Birkin ($15,000-20,000) and Cosmos HAC Birkin ($20,000-25,000), as well as Kelly 20 IIs in a rainbow of colorways, handbag connoisseurs will be delighted with this holiday’s edit of brands, styles and sizes

The auction will also include a comprehensive selection of Supreme artist collaboration skateboards and lifestyle accessories, from the highly coveted Supreme Pinball Machine ($20,000-30,000) and Honda Motorcycle ($15,000-20,000), to the Fender Guitar ($3,000-5,000) and Pearl Drum Set ($4,000-6,000). Also featured is a MBD: A Donda Bullet Proof Signed Vest by Kanye West ($20,000-30,000). Worn during the August 5th 2021 Donda Album release listening party by Kanye West, the bullet proof vest is offered complete with ballistics panels and hand-painted DONDA. The vest is also signed by Kanye to read “MBD” (my body different).

Caitlin Donovan, Head of Department, Handbags and Accessories, Christie’s New York, commented: “The definition of luxury has shifted, and mimicking the market I am excited to introduce our second iteration of Handbags X HYPE: The Luxury Remix. With streetwear and sneaker culture reinventing how we define high end luxury, we introduce a new version of a luxury sale at Christie’s, appealing to today’s younger and more diverse audience of collectors, as well offering the staple luxury icons which shaped our category since the inception in 2014.”
