BOSTON, MASS.- A Beatles signed 'Please Please Me' album sold for $31,251, according to Boston-based RR Auction.

Summer 1963 third pressing of the Beatles debut album Please Please Me, signed on the back cover by the Fab Four.

The consignor indicates that the signatures were obtained at the Adelphi Cinema in Slough, England, in 1963—the Beatles played the Adelphi twice in 1963: on May 18th, four days before the release of Please Please Me, and the first night of the group’s breakout tour with Roy Orbison; and on November 5th, a day after their memorable Royal Command Performance at London’s Prince of Wales Theatre in the presence of the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.

“Any album signed by all four members is highly desirable—roughly 75 signed copies of this title are known to exist,” said Bobby Livingston, Executive VP at RR Auction.

Additional highlights from the sale include, but are not limited by:

• John Lennon and Yoko Ono Signed photograph by David M. Spindel sold for $26,808.

• Beatles signed 1963 Winter Gardens Program sold for $24,750.

• Tupac Shakur Notebook with handwritten and signed letters and notes sold for $22,390.

• Jimi Hendrix 1968 signed UK customs document sold for $20,375.

• Nirvana signed ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit picture disc sold for $15,000.

• Ray Charles signed photo from the collection of a BBC Radio executive sold for $11,364.

The Marvels of Modern Music began on October 14 and concluded on November 18.
