Paintings Which Found Homes in Casinos

The arts and entertainment industry, including gambling, perhaps share obscure yet strong ties making them relevant to one another. Take the film industry, for example. While the general objective of filmmakers is to entertain people and make them forget this world for a little while, films are made out of a few people’s creativity and artistic standpoints. In other words, entertainment may be dead without art.

That fact may explain why paintings are highly appreciated in entertainment establishments like casinos. In fact, there are a lot of popular casinos that found their homes in major casinos around the world.

If you’re curious about what I’m talking about, continue reading as we list down the casinos featuring some of the most famous paintings.

The Wynn Palace
When it comes to casinos homing the most popular paintings, the Wynn Palace in Las Vegas is among the most notable. This hotel-casino is known for its wide collection of Asian and Western artworks.

Wynn has incorporated arts in his casino as his approach to provide a unique gambling experience among his patrons through an artistic environment and to spark new guests’ interest.

One of the modern works of art displayed here is the “Tulips” by the world-renowned artist Jeff Koons. The legendary piece was acquired by the casino in an auction in November 2012 amounting to $33,682,500. You can also find here the popular Full Fathom Five painting by Tim Bavington. Aside from that, you’ll find a wide array of Asian rugs and Liao Yibai’s giant stainless steel pop art Cinderella High Heel, and as well as the Buccleuch vases of the 18th Century.

More artworks you guest enjoy here include the bronze horse and shoe sculptures by Stephan Weiss, David Guidera’s Attempting To Calm a Titan and Mercury Ascending Azo, a wooden chandelier by Gustave Eiffel, and many others.

No doubt that the Wynn Palace is a good destination not just for gamblers but also for art enthusiasts.

Bellagio Las Vegas
Another notable entertainment complex as home to the gallery of fine art is the Bellagio in Las Vegas. This premier casino and exhibition space have featured art pieces from some of the world’s most interesting artists. Some of the significant exhibitions held here include “Picasso: Creatures and Creativity”, “Classic Contemporary: Lichtenstein, Warhol and Friends”, and “Warhol out West”.

Some of the most recent exhibitions featured here are the works from some of the notable people in the world of art like Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir, Monet, and many more; as well as some infamous paintings. Among the more infamous pieces that can be found here at the Bellagio is Chihuly’s Fiori di Como.

Ever since the gallery's opening in 1998, Bellagio Las Vegas has become a premier art gallery in a luxurious hotel and casino. Even though MGM, the casino operator, didn't disclose the total value of the works displayed at Bellagio, some people believe that the whole collection may be worth $250 million.

That only means you won’t only enjoy playing slots with casino VIP bonuses, which, by the way, they have the highest number in Las Vegas, you’ll also love their great art collection.

The Palms Casino
Talking about artistry, luxury, and amazing gambling experience, the Palms Casino is full of such. That essentially proves Las Vegas will never be lacking in culture.

The recently fully renovated luxurious hotel and casino now includes millions of dollars worth of artworks hung throughout its walls. Right when you enter the premises, you’ll be greeted with neon pink words “Wish you were here!” by Olivia Steele.

The major feature of the renovation is their stunning collection of art pieces by YBA (Young British Artists) artist Damien Hurst. You may see some of his works in the world’s most expensive hotel rooms “The Unknown Bar” and “The Empathy Suite”. A private suite also houses a famous painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat.

No wonder the Palms Casino is still among the top destinations for gamblers, tourists, and aesthetes.

Live! Casino and Hotel
Finally, a casino outside Las Vegas also boasts amazing artworks to impress their customers and give them a beautiful sight while they are enjoying their favorite games. Live! Casino and Hotel displays work by local and international artists like Andy Warhol. Not only that, you may also enjoy fabric sculptures by Nick Cave which are among the most prominent displays in the place.

Live! Casino and Hotel is located in Maryland and is among the best casinos in this part of the United States.

While the artworks which found homes in casinos can significantly help in herding many patrons on the entertainment complexes, owners didn’t just put them there for that sole purpose. Their respect and appreciation for art influenced them to share those beautiful pieces with the public, to be seen and appreciated.

As one of the casinos on the list put it, these artworks that are unique and exquisitely crafted are meant to be enjoyed. With that, people will be reminded of the importance of the arts in our daily lives.
