The appointment of Adam VeilVice President of Business Development and Specialist in Fine Artand Lauren ColavitaAssociate Specialist in Fine Artat the onset of a robust fall/winter auction season marks Freemans ongoing commitment to growing its in-house expertise.
Freemans Fine Art department is continually building on its own successes; in February 2021, Freemans best-ever Fine Art auction realized a remarkable $6.4M in a mere 64 lots, and its upcoming fall/winter 2021 auctions have already garnered significant pre-sale interest from international buyers. Freemans team of specialists have deep knowledge of both historical trends and current market directions, leading to consistently excellent results for clients, and Freemans continues to invest in that expertise through the appointment of Veil and Colavita.

ADAM VEIL
Adam Veil serves as a Fine Art specialist and Vice President of business development at Freemans. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Adam earned a BA and MA in Art History from Penn State University and pursued doctoral studies at Indiana University-Bloomington. His area of specialization is pre-WWII American Art, although he has lectured and published on topics ranging from Mexican landscape painting and Old Master printmaking to art market economics.
Prior to joining Freemans, Adam was Head of Fine Art at a Washington, D.C.area auction house, and Executive Director of the Santa Fe Art Auction, where he oversaw market-setting auctions of classical and contemporary Western, Southwestern, and California art. He has also held positions in provenance research, art fair operations, and as editor and producer of The Conversation, a popular Los Angelesbased contemporary art podcast. Concurrent with his role at Freemans, Adam is a professor at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches courses in Renaissance, Modern, and American art history.
LAUREN COLAVITA
Lauren Colavita joins Freeman's Fine Art Department as an Associate Specialist in Modern and Contemporary Art. Lauren attended the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where she was awarded a joint degree in Ancient History and the History of Art. She went on to complete her Masters degree in Museum Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
Lauren comes to us from Freeman's sister auction house in Edinburgh, Lyon & Turnbull, where she was a Junior Specialist in the Paintings Department. She also has past work experience with international auction houses in both New York and London, the National Galleries of Scotland, and the world-renowned Modern and Contemporary Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.
