BERLIN.- From 19 - 22 August 2021 the doors of
paper positions berlin will open for collectors and art-loving discoverers.
With its fifth edition, paper positions berlin will present 49 international galleries with their most striking positions of contemporary and modern art on the theme of drawing and the medium of paper at Deutsche Telekom Hauptstadtrepräsentanz.
The "Interstellar Series" (2021) is an ongoing series of prints in a mixed medium of screen and digital printing on paper by the artist Jonas Weichsel (Galerie Thomas Schulte). As in his paintings, Weichsel's new works on paper are concerned with creating a space between the clearly defined boundaries of the medium and what is technically feasible, in which entire universes of colour can open up and be discovered.
The art of the artist Solveig K. Bolduan (gräfe art.concept) is challenging, expressive and full of noisy colours. Using a sewing machine or hand embroidery, a wide variety of materials are processed and slowly merge into abstract representations: In her series "Wendebilder", both the front and the back of the works are equally interesting. In addition to mixed media, the artist's oeuvre also includes ink drawings on transparent paper.
Maurice Mbikayi (ARTCO Gallery) deals in his work with the environmental hazards of the African mining industries, which are an essential part of the world's computer and smartphone production. He collects the "leftovers" - discarded notebook parts, keyboards, electronic waste - and incorporates them into his collages, drawings and sculptures.
