NAPLES, FL.- Artis—Naples CEO and President Kathleen van Bergen announced the appointment of Melanie M. Kalnins as vice president of marketing and patron engagement. Kalnins will oversee the organization’s comprehensive marketing, communications and patron services operations. She comes to Artis—Naples from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association and starts her position on July 26.

“We are thrilled to welcome Melanie Kalnins to our outstanding administrative team,” van Bergen said. “Her 20 years of experience with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, most recently as director of marketing and business analysis, and her ability to blend creativity with highly advanced analytical skills will help us continue to grow Artis—Naples as the premier visual and performing arts organization in Southwest Florida. Her leadership will be especially important as we emerge from the challenges of the pandemic and launch a robust 2021-22 season.”

Added Kalnins: “I am delighted to be joining the senior leadership team at Artis—Naples during a dynamic era of great vision and growth. As the demographics of Southwest Florida continue to grow and change, I look forward to leading efforts to further the relevance and impact that the organization has in the broader community. In addition to revenue management and audience development, Kalnins is a proven leader in organizational strategic planning and fundraising. Prior to joining the CSO in 2001, she served as a sales planning analyst for CBS Television Networks in Chicago.

Kalnins is a graduate of Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in communication studies. She has also participated in a wide variety of performing arts organizations, including lead and supporting roles in numerous professional and amateur theater productions, and is a seasoned pianist and vocalist.
