Signs of a Toxic Relationship: How to Tell if Your Partner Is Only Hurting

What kind of relationship can be considered toxic? The type that does not make anyone happy or enrich partners spiritually. On the contrary, it leads to psychological problems and aggravates them up to mental disorders and physical ailments.

Getting out of these relationships, Russian brides spend years and before that, they also need many years to realize that they are toxic. What warning signs are worth paying attention to? This type of relationship has several symptoms.

1. Parasitism
You feel like a Chinese worker at an Apple factory who works day and night while your partner seems to be quite happy with life — making childhood dreams come true, having fun, building a career, not particularly caring about the material side of work. Check with whom your partner lives, with you, or with the convenience that you create for them.

2. Derision and Constant Quarrels
Such relationships can be toxic in the literal sense: scientists have found the connection between constant social stress and increased production in the body of two proteins that cause inflammation and metabolic problems. The constant finger-pointing with a partner can lead you to cardiac distress, depression, and even cancer. Consider if this is an adequate price to pay to live with this person.

3. Inability to Discuss Problems
If your partner does not want to hear that something needs to be changed, this suggests that they feel quite comfortable. However, if at the same time you feel that there is a problem in your relationship, this is a sign that there is no harmony in your union while one is enjoying, the other is not at ease. The further, the more such a relationship will be destroyed by the misunderstanding and unwillingness to hear another. The inability to get into a partner’s ear leads to desolation and a sense of a dead-end in life.

4. Self-loathing and Unhappiness
One of the most dangerous results of being stuck in a toxic relationship is the emergence of progressive dissatisfaction with oneself. That is understandable because if your partner constantly criticizes you, underestimates you, sooner or later, you begin to think that they are right, and you are a worthless, stupid person with no prospects.

5. Inability to Think about a Joint Future
In a toxic relationship, you are not connected by a common future and not a joint present, but by the past — you are trying to find an excuse for the fact that you are still together, in fond memories, which may already be five or ten years old. If you think that your joint future is awkward and sometimes even scary, this is a sign that relationships are poisoning your life.

6. Manipulation
What makes a person stay in a toxic relationship, even if they realized long ago that they are at an impasse? The fear of being alone. A malign partner most often feels or even fully realizes the fear of their other half, of being abandoned, and tries, with the help of this fear, to demand more and more new conditions on which they are ready to remain with you. The stronger your dependence on your partner, the boldlier and more selfishly they will behave.
