Call for Artists: TransATLantic 2005



ATLANTA, GA.- TransATLantic was first presented last summer by GALLERY twenty-four in Berlin featuring a group exhibition of emerging artists from Atlanta. TransATLantic has since developed into an annual bi-directional cultural event between the two cities. This year’s event is organized by Artist in Residence International (AIRI), Be Original @ Miami Circle, and GALLERY twenty-four in Berlin. ENTRY DEADLINE: JULY 29, 2005.

TransATLantic 2005 will be juried by a distinguished committee of Atlanta artists, critics, and curators. This exhibition features emerging artists from Berlin and will take place November 5 thru 30, 2005 at Be Original @ Miami Circle gallery in Atlanta. One artist from the top 10 finalists will also be chosen by the committee to receive the prestigious AIRI Artists in Residence Award, a 2-4 week residency which includes transportation to/from Atlanta, living accommodations and studio space. AIRI will also arrange public appearances, including but not limited to, open studio visits and guest lectures at local Atlanta colleges and/or universities.

Eligibility for submission is open only to artists living and/or working in Berlin, Germany. 2-D and 3-D work in any medium will be considered. Artists should submit 5 - 10 images of recent work in either slide or digital format. Please submit only images of artwork that is to be considered for the exhibition and will be available during the exhibition dates. Submission guidelines are as follows:

SLIDE SUBMISSIONS: Slides must be of reproduction quality, in standard 2” x 2”, 35 mm format in plastic or paper mounts, submitted in clear plastic slide protectors. No glass slides will be accepted. Slides must be clearly labeled with: 1) Name of artist; 2) Title of work; 3) Year produced; 4) Image size; 5) Top of image; 6) Number of entry (Please number slides to correspond to the Slide Inventory List)

DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS: Digital images may be submitted in JPEG format on a CD. All CDs submitted must be labeled with the artists name and jpeg files should be titled and correspond to the Slide Inventory List. All images should be sized at 300 dpi resolution at a 400:300 pixel ratio.

In addition to images, all submissions MUST include the following: 1) Slide Inventory List (with contact information); 2) $30.00 (USD) Entry Fee (payable through Paypal to info@transatlanticart.com); 3) Self addressed stamped envelope for the return of materials with prepaid international postage.

PLEASE NOTE: Our cutorial decisions are based strictly on the consistency & quality of work submitted by each artist. Resumes, CVs & Artist Statements are not required, however, can be sent in addition to the required materials.
