NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s New York announces the April 13 auction of Magnificent Jewels and the concurrent Jewels Online sale from April 8-20. The auction includes a significant selection of colorless diamonds, colored diamonds, and gemstones, along with signed pieces by Belperron, Bvlgari, Cartier, Graff, Harry Winston, Hemmerle, JAR, Lacloche, Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels. The sale will offer 217 lots, with estimates ranging from $10,000 to $2,500,000. An exhibition by appointment will be held at Christie’s New York by appointment from April 9-12.

The April 13th auction is led by ‘The Perfect Palette,’ a trio of sensational colored diamonds being offered as separate lots, which include a fancy vivid blue diamond ring of 2.13 carats ($2,000,000-3,000,000); a fancy vivid orange diamond ring of 2.34 carats ($1,500,000-2,500,000); and a fancy vivid purplish pink diamond ring of 2.17 carats ($1,500,000-2,500,000). Additional significant colored diamonds include a fancy intense orangy pink diamond of 6.56 carats ($700,000-1,000,000); a fancy vivid yellow diamond ring of 25.55 carats ($925,000-1,225,000); and a fancy vivid purplish pink diamond ring of 3.02 carats being offered without reserve ($1,000,000-1,500,000).

Also leading the sale is a selection of impressive white diamonds led by a pear brilliant-cut diamond ring of 38.04 carats, D color, flawless clarity, Type IIa ($2,500,000-3,500,000); an emerald-cut diamond of 14.50 carats, D color, IF clarity, Type IIa ($700,000-1,000,000); and The Buhl-Mann Diamond Ring of 19.47 carats from The Property of an Elegant Midwestern Collector ($200,000-300,000). Colored gemstones are also strongly represented by an exquisite Burmese ruby ring by F.J. Cooper, a prominent Philadelphia jeweler ($1,200,000-2,200,000); and a Colombian emerald ring by Cartier ($150,000–200,000). Additionally featured are 12 separate lots containing groupings of unmounted stones spanning diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds with estimates ranging from $2,000 to $30,000, all offered without reserve.

Private collections within the sale offer signed pieces by Belperron, Bvlgari, Cartier, David Webb, Harry Winston, Van Cleef & Arpels and Verdura incorporating gemstones of the highest quality with refined design. The Estate of Jacqueline Leeds contains over 38 jewels across the live and online sales and features a pear brilliant-cut diamond of 16.48 carats, J color, VS2 clarity ($180,000-220,000); and a suite of Van Cleef & Arpels ruby and diamond jewelry ($50,000-70,000). The Property of an Elegant Midwestern Collector contains eight jewels and three of which are by JAR including a pair of sapphire, pink sapphire and diamond earrings ($80,000-120,000).

Specially featured in the sale is a Bvlgari diamond and onyx ‘Serpenti’ wristwatch which pays homage to the celebrated actress, activist, and renowned jewelry collector Elizabeth Taylor. The elegant timepiece was donated by Bvlgari with proceeds designated for The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF). Working tirelessly on the AIDS crisis through the 1980s, Elizabeth Taylor established The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation in 1991 to reach her vision of an AIDS-free world. ETAF’s work ensures that HIV prevention education and access to treatment is available through domestic and international initiatives. ETAF’s initiative HIV Is Not A Crime advocates for the modernization of criminal laws and penalties affecting people living with HIV.

The Jewels Online sale (April 8-20) features a broad selection of fine jewels and iconic designs by Bvlgari, Cartier, David Webb, Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co., JAR, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
