LOS ANGELES, CA.- After more than a year of mandated closure as a result of COVID-19,
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art will reopen its galleries to the public on April 1, 2021, following the guidelines provided by L.A. County for museums. LACMA members will be welcomed for Member Previews on March 2630. To provide a safe environment for visitors and staff, LACMA has implemented new health and safety protocols and procedures in accordance with the guidelines provided by the L.A. County Department of Public Health. The new health and safety protocols include limited capacity (25% in red tier as required by the State), advance timed-entry online ticketing, required face mask wearing, mandatory online health screening and temperature check, a touchless visitor experience (including a new touchless check-in system and new sensor-based facility fixtures), enhanced and more frequent cleaning and sanitizing protocols, one-way paths through galleries, physical distancing cues and labels, new gallery guidelines to reduce gathering, hand sanitizing stations, and health and safety protocols signage throughout campus. All in-person events, such as art classes and activities, talks, concerts, film screenings, and group tours have been suspended.
Online tickets for Member Previews will be available for reservation on LACMAs website beginning March 19 at 10 am PDT. Online tickets for the general public will be available for purchase on LACMAs website beginning March 25 at 10 am PDT. All visitors, including LACMA members, must purchase or reserve advance timedentry tickets online or by calling 323 8576010, 10 am5 pm daily. Tickets blocks will be released one week at a time. Onsite ticket purchase is not available.
We are delighted to welcome visitors back to the museum, said LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director Michael Govan. We have a diverse and exciting program of exhibitions that are sure to inspire visitors during these challenging times. Our dedicated staff have been hard at work to modify visiting protocols, gallery flow, exhibition design, and facilities to provide a safe environment for everyone. We are closely followingand in many cases, exceedingpublic health guidelines and coordinating with the L.A. County Department of Public Health. We are thrilled to again be a source of respite, solace, and beauty for Angelenos.
The museum is pleased to announce that visitors to LACMA will be able to see six new exhibitions: Bill Viola: Slowly Turning Narrative (on view through June 27, 2021); Yoshitomo Nara (on view through July 5, 2021); NOT I: Throwing Voices (1500 BCE2020 CE) (on view through July 25, 2021); Vera Lutter: Museum in the Camera (on view through September 12, 2021); Cauleen Smith: Give It Or Leave It (on view through October 31, 2021); and View From Here: Recent Acquisitions (ongoing). In addition, many of LACMAs exhibitions have been extended, including Fiji: Art & Life in the Pacific (on view through May 2, 2021) and Do Ho Suh: 348 West 22nd Street (on view through August 8, 2021). Mark Bradford: 150 Portrait Tone will be ongoing. The museums outdoor sculptures and public park space will continue to be open to visitors.
LACMA will continue to engage with online audiences through LACMA @ Home, a digital space to watch, learn, listen, and browse through the museums virtual resources.
